It’s that time again, to make an overview of what launched on the beauty market in Romania over the last few weeks. What I do is to do a combination between an anti-haul and a wishlist. Given that we’re still at the beginning of October, some releases are a bit older, but most if not all of the stuff is available in stores.

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin skin care line
I’m all about skin care and I always wanted to try some Korean products, but most brands available here are too expensive. So far, our Sephora has only a couple of products in stock for this line, but I’m not tempted to try it out.

Make Up Forever Artist Color pencil
This is supposed to be a multifunctional pencil for the eyes, lips, face, and eyebrows. It comes in 39 shades, but come on, 20 euros for a pencil…Nope, I wouldn’t pay that much just for a pencil no matter how good it is.

Huda Beauty Easy Bake loose powder
Huda’s baking powder is available at our Sephora as well and I’m not the least interested in it. For one, I don’t support the brand and I don’t want to buy anything from them and secondly, I don’t do the baking thing with my makeup so I wouldn’t have any use for such a product. The powder comes in 8 shades and it costs around 37 euros.

Douglas My Cheek Palette
This part of their fall collection from what I can tell. It contains 6 blushes at a price point of 15,5 euros. Honestly, it doesn’t look like something special to me and I would probably never go through a blush palette anyway.

Douglas Fall Lights eyeshadow palette
I like the packaging with the leaves on it and 17,5 euros is not that bad for 8 shades, but it’s just too boring. I haven’t seen any swatches to see if there’s anything special about these eyeshadows, but as far as the color scheme goes, I have all those colors and I have small palettes for traveling, so I’ll pass.

Douglas Box of Beauty
This is kind of a seasonal box that Douglas launches every couple of months and this is the fall edition. They usually have 2 full-size products and 4 deluxe samples, but I’m never tempted to buy it because the full-size products are always things from their own line, which are not that expensive and the deluxe samples are most often from products that are not new so most people probably already try them. For example, this box contains a shower lotion and a perfume in a small 15 ml bottle from their line, plus samples of Lancome Genifique serum, a Charles Worthington shampoo, a Smashbox primer, and a theBalm Bahama Mama miniature. The box is 20 euros full price and 15 euros for those who have a Douglas card.

Yes I Am perfume by Cacharel
I have never tried any perfumes from Cacharel, but I never felt like the brand speaks to me. The bottle is somehow cute, it looks like a lipstick and it’s a combination of floral and fruity notes, but I don’t see myself ever buying something like this.

essence Fall Back To Nature eyeshadow palette
essence always gets me, man. The packaging is cute as hell and it has such an affordable price- just 7,5 euros for 10 shades that I have to constantly remind myself that the quality of the two palettes I already own for them is crap. But there’s still no guarantee I won’t buy this. They also released more products in their fall collection, but so far I’ve seen online only some nail files, a perfume, and some body tattoos.

essence Advent Calendar – Trend Edition 2018
Advent calendars are starting to toll in here slowly but surely. This one contains 24 products for 25,5 euros, but I will refrain from buying it because I want to save for something really good. The packaging is as cute as it can be, with a winter carousel on the box and with mini-boxes for each day inside, but I know this is something more suitable for teens, not for someone my age. Plus, it’s not worth it to me because it contains 5 nail polishes, nail stickers, nail glitter, some mini cards, gift stickers and a nail stamp among other things. Too much nail stuff. And if I most certainly wouldn’t enjoy 10 out of 24 days, that’s not a good deal at all.

Catrice Advent Calendar #DIY 2018
This one contains more makeup items and is also more expensive than the essence one because it costs 40 euros, which I may add is more than it costs in Germany so our online retailer who sells this calendar is slightly overcharging for it. However, regardless of the price, I don’t want it because from what I’ve seen in the pictures that have leaked online, the products are from previous collections or old limited edition items, so they basically gathered the stuff that didn’t sell well and put it in an advent calendar. At least that’s how I see it. So no, I will pass on this as well.

Boys’n Berries eyeshadow palettes
This brand is relatively new here, or at least I saw their products only in one online shop. They brought 5 eyeshadow palettes which I have the feeling are dupes for high-end popular products. At 20 euros for 14 shades each, they’re quite affordable. There is a neutral one, a more smokey-dark one, a colorful one, a purple-toned one and my favorite mostly because of the name, the Sunset Beach palette. Am I the only one who remembers that soap opera from the ’90s called Sunset Beach? God, I’m old. Whatever. So, I might try these out because they supposedly have 4 finishes – matte, satin, shimmery and metallic, but it’s not something high on my wishlist, just something I have in the “maybe” mental pile of makeup that I say I want.

Vegan makeup from Bottega Verde
Bottega Verde launched their vegan makeup line which contains 100% natural ingredients. So far, the line has only 4 foundation shades, 4 eye pencil shades, and 3 lipstick colors. The main ingredient seems to be the hibiscus oil. I won’t be getting anything from this line because it all looks rather boring to me, but I think for someone who uses only vegan makeup products, this could be an interesting addition. I can’t say exactly how the prices are because Bottega Verde is the type of brand that does sales almost all the time, so that’s when I would typically buy something to not buy ar full price. On sale, the eye pencils were about 5 euros each, the lipsticks about 14 euros each and the foundations about 18 euros each.

Too Faced Then&Now eyeshadow palette
It looks cute but for me, this represents no interest whatsoever. I didn’t know about Too Faced when they first launched and I didn’t even use to wear eyeshadows then, so I see no point in having doubles of the same shades in the same palette with old and new formulas. The nostalgia factor doesn’t work on me in this case, so I’m not tempted to even swatch this.

Pupa Milano Retro Illusion collection
This limited edition collection came out recently and it includes 3 eyeshadow sticks, 4 nail polishes, a highlighter, a mascara, a small lip palette, and 2 lip liners. The colors are ok, suitable for the fall season and the packaging is cute, it looks like the compacts have that velvet cover that some people like. Probably the start of the collection is the highlighter, but it looks more like a bronzing powder. That would have been the only thing that could have attracted me, but I think it’s too dark for fair skin. The other items are really nothing that special.

Lancome Monsieur Big mascara
I usually don’t get excited about new mascaras but this one has such a cool name that reminds me of the character Mr. Big from Sex And The City. I’ve heard good things about Lancome mascaras but I will certainly won’t spend around 26 euros for one when many drugstore mascaras are awesome.

Too Faced Sugar Peach face and eye palette
Seeing these newer releases already in our Sephora makes me think that we might be lucky enough to have that gingerbread eyeshadow palette soon and you know that I will get my hands on that no matter what, even if I have to beg all my relatives to make me this gift for Christmas and nothing else. The face palette is cute but I usually don’t buy face palettes or at least not high-end ones because the shades are never suitable for all skin tones and it’s just wasteful for me. Also, jumping directly to the holiday launches makes me think we won’t see the Tutty Frutty collection here in stores.

Revolution Beauty Advent Calendar 2018
This is the Christmas tree version that it’s available so far here, but honestly, I’m not tempted because many of the products I wouldn’t use. Plus, the content looks very similar to the last year’s one. In Romania, it’s sold for about 50 euros. It contains 6 lipsticks, 4 powder highlighters, 1 primer, 4 makeup brushes, 2 lip glosses, 1 bronzing powder, 1 mini eyeshadow palette, 2 cream highlighters, 1 mirror, 1 liquid highlighter, and one eyeshadow palette.
