I received this product as a gift with purchase for buying other Revolution Beauty stuff and now I understand why. From my understanding, the Freedom line is being discontinued and I can’t say I will miss it. Freedom products were, if I’m not mistaken, some of the cheapest products from TAM Beauty, with very simple packaging and the quality was also not that great. I have one of their single eyeshadows which I don’t like at all because it’s just chunky glitter and I also had a clear lipgloss that was very sticky on the lips but I managed to use it up.
Now back to this powder. It comes in a simple black compact, with a clear lid and no mirror. It contains 4 grams, which isn’t much for a powder and it may seem larger at first sight but I guess the pan isn’t deep. The online shop from where I buy Revolution Beauty products sells it for around 6 euros, which I think it’s too much considering that Freedom products are usually cheaper on the TAM Beauty website.
I don’t really know what this powder is supposed to be and that’s why I didn’t do a swatch on my skin. The color is so subtle that it’s almost like my skin tone and it wouldn’t show up properly in pictures. As you can see, it has that leopard pattern in the pan, which reminds me of something from Too Faced, but I may be wrong. It has a brown shade which looks like a bronzer mixed with a pink which is supposed to be a blush I guess and a pale pink which could be a highlighter. All the shades have shimmer in them, but it’s very fine, you could almost say the powder shows up as matte on the skin.
My problem with this type of products is that I can’t properly use them. I don’t know what to do with it. You can’t dip your brush only in one powder because they are not arranged in separate areas. I had powders that were like 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 products in the same compact, but they were arranged like triangles so you could choose to use them separately or all together.
With this product, you only have the option to mix them all together. First of all, the pattern is destroyed easily after a few uses when you swirl your brush around. Second, for me, it’s just like a dark pink blush. It’s too pink to use it as a bronzer and not shimmery enough to be used as a highlight. It’s just….blah.
So yeah, it may look pretty in the compact, but you can’t actually use it any way you want. The formula is also not that great. It’s very hard, not soft enough to blend easily. This is just personal preference as I know that some people don’t like powder products that are too soft because they can have some kickback.
Overall, I really don’t like this powder and I wouldn’t buy any similar product because it’s just inconvenient.
