Favorite face products combo – Yves Rocher illuminating primer and moisturizing nude foundation

yves rocher primer and foundation

I bought these two products at the same time because they had a sale where you could buy the foundation an receive the primer for free. Because of that, I started to use them at the same time as well and I discovered a product combination that I love.

I have combination skin, but once autumn is here, I don’t use matte foundations just because I think my skin looks dull and somewhat…lifeless. When I do grab a matte foundation is usually when I want more coverage because illuminating foundations tend to emphasize the skin texture. Since currently, I’m having good skin days – it seems my skin does agree well with those Nivea detox creams as sticky as they are – I like to wear light coverage foundations, to have that fresh youthful look.

First of all, the primer doesn’t contain alcohol, silicone or parabens, which is a big plus in my book. I try to avoid alcohol in the products that I put on my skin because it’s a drying ingredient. It also contains 92% natural ingredients and it comes in a tube with 25 ml.

There is not much to say about it. It’s like a normal primer, you just have to apply it after the moisturizer and before the foundation. It does look a little glowy so to say, not shimmery. It does make the face look more illuminates and I also find that it has a slightly blurry effect. The foundation layers well over it, so I’m happy with it. I do think that it’s not something suitable for oily skin but for dry or even normal or combination skin it works great.

After the primer, I apply this foundation which does exactly what the name says. It has light coverage and it’s the type of foundation that evens out the skin tone and it makes it look like your skin but better. The foundation also contains great ingredients – 96% – 99% natural ingredients, depending on the shade. It’s alcohol, parabens an silicone free. One of their promoted ingredients on the package is the edulis cellular water. Eulis is something that they use in their hydrating skincare line Hydra Vegetal as well, as it’s found in the eye gel that I love.

I have the shade Rose 100, which is suitable for pale skin with pink undertones. Unfortunately, they don’t have a wide shade range, so I think it would be difficult to find a suitable shade for very pale or dark skin. Most of their face makeup products are like this, so let’s hope they expand their shade range sometime in the future.

It applies well with a brush or using your fingers. I haven’t tried it with a sponge because I just don’t like sponges that much. I set it with a little translucent powder and I’m good to go, I think you can’t even tell I’m wearing foundation.

The biggest drawback is the packaging because it comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. I don’t know who thought it’s a good idea to put liquid products in bottles with droppers, but I just want my pump, even though the foundation is very liquidy and you would have to be careful when using a pump.

If you have oily skin this is not for you because it is a moisturizing foundation, so you can expect to become shiny when using it when you already have a shiny face.

Other things to consider – it has the pretty much standard quantity of 30 ml and the price is around 10 euros but you can usually found either discounted or in various types of sales.

Even though this is my favorite combo at the moment, it doesn’t replace my all-time favorite foundation which is the L’Oreal True Match because that one has a medium coverage and it does adapt well to the skin shade.
