Another month has gone by and these are some of the beauty launches in Romania that have caught my eye. Be prepared for many advent calendars.

Revolution Beauty Lip Advent Calendar 2018

More and more calendar are making their way to Romania and this is another one of them. This one contains 5 matte lipsticks, 5 creamy lipsticks, 3 lip glosses, 7 lip liners, 3 liquid matte lipsticks, 2 liquid lipsticks. It costs about 57 euros and I will certainly not get it because I’m not impressed with Revolution Beauty products, especially lipsticks, so I’m not ready to take the risk of having 25 products that I don’t like.

Revolution Beauty Countdown to NYE 2019

This is a type of advent calendar, but for the days between Christmas and New Year. It contains 4 highlighters, 1 lipgloss, 1 metal liquid eyeshadow, and 1 eyeshadow palette. So for 7 products, which are not that diverse, you pay around 36 euros, which may not seem like a bad deal, but it’s still not tempting for me.

There are also some holiday kits which I think could be interesting for the fans of the brand, but it’s not something that I would be interested in.

Douglas Lovely Advent Calendar 2018

This is a calendar that contains products from the Douglas brand, mainly bath and body products and some accessories. The packaging is very cute and the price is also affordable just around 20 euros, but the content is not that interesting.

This is another variant of the cube advent calendar with Douglas products and it has the same price, but it’s blue and it contains Douglas makeup products and accessories.

Urban Decay Naked Cherry eyeshadow palette

I’m actually surprised that it launched so soon in Romania. This palette is supposed to be a replacement so to say of the original Naked palette since it was discontinued because it goes with the trend of having lots of pinks, reds and berry tones in makeup. Interestingly enough, you can still buy the original from our Sephora but they still charge full price for it instead of putting it on sale. Regardless, I’m not at least tempted to buy this palette because I’m not a fan of the Naked line. All the shades just seem so similar in these palettes and all the looks I’ve seen so far made with the cherry one are just the same. Plus, there are plenty of drugstore dupes for all the Naked palettes. I have one for the Naked 3, granted the quality of the shadows is not great but even if I wouldn’t care about the quality, I’m bored with the palette because I always end up with a pinky-purple combination on my lids. So no, it’s a pass for me.

Revolution Beauty Christmas Tree Advent Calendar 2018

I only mention all the advent calendars that come out in Romania because we don’t have that many. This one is quite expensive because it has 25 full-size products, palettes, and all the good stuff but…it cost about 115 euros, which I think it’s too much for an affordable brand like Revolution Beauty. I certainly wouldn’t pay that much for an advent calendar that’s not from a luxury brand and it’s all makeup, so I can’t possibly end up loving or using all, you just can’t. Maybe to buy it and break it into smaller gifts for friends and family but even so it’s just not a smart buy when you’re usually buying affordable drugstore makeup.

The Body Shop Advent Calendar 2018 – large version

I don’t have an opinion on TBS because I never tried their products since they simply are not in my budget range. I certainly wouldn’t pay around 132 euros for any advent calendar even though this contains 25 products and should have a value of around 180 euros in it. I wouldn’t mind getting it as a gift, thou, I must admit that.

L’Occitane Advent Calendars 2018

Like each year, L’Occitane has 2 advent calendars – one regular one and a deluxe one. However, none of them contains full-size products, or at least no big value full-size products, just some body lotions, and soaps, I think, in the deluxe one.

This year’s design was created in collaboration with the French fashion house Castelbajac. I don’t like it, it looks so childish to me and it doesn’t even make me think of Christmas. Last year’s advent calendar – the regular one – was so cute and I’m sorry now that I didn’t get it because it was also cheaper. The regular advent calendar is 57,5 euros and the deluxe one is 104 euros. They both contain 24 products each.

Douglas Believe in Angels Advent Calendar 2018

I already ordered this on as soon as it popped on on their site. This is probably the only advent calendar that I will get because it’s one of the more affordable ones – about 30 euros, and I also took advantage of a 20% sale on the website – I really like the product selection, it has a great value and I had the same type of calendar last year and I really enjoyed it. I won’t do an unboxing because I want to spoil myself with little surprises in December, but I will post weekly reviews for the products and I will also do a comparison with last year’s calendar. I know this is not one that’s available worldwide because as far as I know, Douglas drugstores are present only in Europe, but I think it might be fun for everyone to open with me all the 24 doors.

Pupa Milano Glow Obsession highlighters collection

This limited edition collection has three types of highlighters – highlighter sticks, liquid highlighters, and powder highlighters. I must say, the powder ones caught my eye because they look really blinding, but my problem with highlighters is that I like very shiny ones just to look at. When it comes to actually use them, I’m more of a subtle highlighter kind of girl. My face is shiny enough as it is, so I don’t want to emphasize that. Plus, I don’t think it looks natural to have too much glow on the cheeks.

NYX Sugar Trip Advent Calendar 2018

This looks like such a fun calendar because it has a cute design and it gives you the opportunity to test out several NYX products, not just the lip stuff. They also made sure to create a special design for the packaging of the products, so it’s not just something that they threw in some random products. It contains 2 creamy lip glosses, 2 liquid lipsticks, 2 creamy lipsticks, 4 matte lipsticks, 1 metallic lipstick, 1 tinted lip oil, 2 lip oils, 1 blush, and 5 eyeshadows. I would definitely be tempted to get it if it weren’t a little too expensive for my budget but I’m not saying no to it for sure because I want to see if there will be a high-end eyeshadow palette that I really want to get for Christmas – I have plenty of drugstore ones for now and I want to splurge for the holidays with buying one high-end makeup item and one more expensive perfume – but if there’s nothing that catches my eye I may pick this up. It’s sold here online for around 52 euros.

Kiehl’s Advent Calendar 2018

This year’s advent calendar was created in collaboration with the artist Andrew Bannecker who designed the packaging. It contains 24 products and here it costs around 71 euro. Way too expensive for my budget and I’m not that keen to spend that much on Kiehl’s anyway because I tried one of their products, a face mask which honestly was mediocre, nothing special at all. But it does look cool.

Fenty Beauty Holiday Collection 2018

We got most of the products from this year’s holiday collection in our Sephora shops but I can’t say that there’s something that tempts me. I really like Rihanna and what she’s trying to do with her brand, but she’s way too out there for me with the colors and the glitters. I like seeing them but I know that I won’t be using them.

Becca Enchanted Glow Kit

Not only advent calendars launched last month, but also holiday kits. This one caught my eye because it contains the 3 most popular highlighter shades from Becca in mini formats. I think it would be great for someone who wants to try their products and add some highlighters to their collection in mini sizes so that they can actually get to use it. At around 41 euros it’s not exactly cheap but I would be very tempted to get this. We shall see.

Too Faced Gingerbread Spice eyeshadow palette

I was so sure I was going to get this for Christmas, especially since it’s also a little cheaper than the chocolate bars – around 53 euros, but now I’m not so sure anymore. I have most of those colors and after seeing multiple reviews, there are definitely some shades in there that are problematic to apply. The packaging is cute and all but I’m getting tired of all these neutral palettes with pops of red. I’m on the fence with this one.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics

I can’t believe that a brand like Jeffree Star is finally available in Romania, in Marionnaud stores, and on their website. Technically it’s a November launch because they launched today, November 1st, but I had to include this because I’m so excited.

It may be an unpopular opinion, but I like Jefree, so please don’t come for me for that. I’m so excited to try some of his products, but they’re a little o the expensive side and I don’t want to pay that much because I’m not exactly the type of person he caters to – I don’t like blinding highlighters, very colorful palettes or weird lipstick shades, but I do want to try something – maybe I’ll buy the bullet and buy the liquid lipstick in the shade Christmas Cookie. I saw this lipstick worn by a very pale youtuber that I’m subscribed to – her name is Bridgette aka Porcelain on YouTube and I love the way it looked on her.

Now, coming back to the products, we did get a nice range of products – liquid lipsticks, bullet lipsticks, highlighters and liquid highlighters, lip scrubs, lip liners, and some lipstick bundles. However, the palettes have not come yet. The only palette sold on Marionnaud’s website is Androgyny.

To keep you updated on last month’s beauty launches, I didn’t get the essence fall eyeshadow palette because it sold out and I also didn’t get the Boys’n Berries eyeshadows because I want to buy some Zoeva palettes – I got hooked on them and I want to start a collection.

From October’s new releases, I already bought and received the Douglas Believe in Angels advent calendar – the multibrand one and I’m very tempted to buy at least one lipstick from Jeffree Star cosmetics. However, I’m cautious with what I include on my wishlist because I’m already starting to buy Christmas gifts for my family and I really want to buy a special perfume as a present for myself for Christmas so…we’ll see.
