Well, after a few days that were kind of a hit and miss, now it’s time to see what I got in my advent calendar over the weekend.

Douglas mini eye pencil
This is just a regular mini eye pencil in black, so it has only 0,6 grams. It’s also a repeat product from last year and I can’t say I’m too excited because it’s very small and already difficult to handle, so if I’ll sharpen it once, that will be it. The same happened last year when I threw mine away after that because I couldn’t hold it properly so it was no point in keeping it for longer. This mini pencil is also sold as it is and it costs 19 lei – 4,22 euros. Totally not worth it for the amount of product that you get.
What I got last year

For the 14th of December, the product I received was the wort of the entire advent calendar. A Douglas Sun self-tanning wipe. Just one piece, I kid you not. I mean, sure the wipe did what it was supposed to do because I tested it on my legs, but what can you do with just one wipe. Plus, I don’t use self-tanning products because I hate dealing with streaks and dirty towels or clothes. One wipe retails for 1,55 euros.

STARSKIN 7-second Overnight Mask
This was a product that I was happy to receive because I love face masks. It contains a double-sided pad soaked in a serum that contains some flower oils – I’m sorry I can’t remember which. You just use the beaded side to massage the pad gently on the skin for a gentle exfoliation and then you use the other side to tap the product on to the skin. You don’t have to rinse it or to work it into the skin. I must say it felt really nice and my skin felt very soft and smooth. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the product on the Douglas website, but the same type of mask, just for the morning, is sold in a jar containing 17 pieces, so one piece is worth 1,76 euros. I would gladly pay that price for a mask like this, but I don’t know if I could afford an entire jar at once because it’s a little too expensive.
What I got last year

For the 15th of December, I got a travel size of the Douglas Essential Eyes and Lips makeup remover. The makeup remover was ok, but it wasn’t better or worse than others I’ve used so far. However, it’s always nice to have this kind of product at hand. The travel size of the makeup remover retails for 4,22 euros.

Mercedes-Benz Woman EDP
Finally, I ended my week with something good. This is a mini perfume called Woman from Mercedes-Benz. What I find funny is that I couldn’t find it on the Romanian or German website. The Romanian website doesn’t sell this brand at all although they did send me once a sample for a men’s perfume and the German one had only perfumes for men. However, I found this perfume at another retailer sold for 229 lei – 50,88 euros for the 90 ml full-size. So I’ll approximate the mini 10 ml size at 5,65 euros.
The perfume is a rollerball which I don’t mind because sometimes you just want something to apply quick and slip into your purse. It has notes of cashmere, sandalwood, musk, vanilla, orange flower, jasmine, black currant, gardenia, and pear. Honestly, to me, it’s very similar to the Annayake perfumes because it has that classic heavy floral scent. On my skin, it doesn’t last that long because I applied it this morning and I can barely feel it now on my wrist. However, I’m not mad about it.
What I got last year

For the 16th of December, I got that little mini eye pencil that I told you was a repeat product so I won’t dwell on it any longer.
Comparing these 3 days, I must say I like this year’s product better. I like the perfume and the face mask more than just the makeup remover I got last year. As for the value, this year’s products were worth 11,63 euros, while last year’s were worth 9,99 euros, so around the same amount.
So far, the first 16 products of the advent calendar were worth 76,91 euros. Since there are only 8 days left, I will do two more updates, one on Thursday and one on the 24th. I have high hopes the last week is better because last year’s calendar was the same – the first and the last week were really good, but the week in the middle – probably the least interesting products.
