I don’t know what it is, call it a desire to support local products or simply because these products are widely available, but I ended up with all Romanian products for my current skincare routine. Usually, during spring I always have to deal with acne, when the weather is transitioning from cold to warm and I’m somewhere in between dry skin patches and oily skin areas. So, I decided to go on a full acne skin care routine and dropped my anti-aging face creams. So, these are the products I’ve been using lately.
Step 1 – cleansing – Elmiplant Skin Control daily exfoliating gel

This gel contains lemongrass and bamboo micro-particles, so the exfoliation is done in a gentle manner. However, I use the cleansing gel only once a day, at night, to thoroughly remove my makeup and to clean my skin really well. It also contains salicylic acid, an ingredient well-known for its acne preventing properties and the peelmoist complex, with the benefit of improving cell renewal and the ability to restore the level of skin hydration, maintaining the functional role of the skin’s natural barrier.
Step 2 – toner – Elmiplant Skin Control astringent lotion

I really love this lotion because it makes me feel so refreshed and I feel like it gives me an energy boost and it revitalizes the skin. It contains iris extract, essential lemon oil, and lactic acid – a gentle exfoliator and disinfectant.
Both products are recommended more for teenagers but I think that if that’s what I feel is suitable for my skin at the moment, I should use them even if I’m no longer a teenager. Elmiplant products are heavily based on natural ingredients, without parabens.
Step 3 – moisturizing – Gerovital Stop Acne sebum control cream

This is a very light-textured cream, that quickly absorbs into the skin. I love the fact it makes my skin feel smooth and hydrated, but it also has mattifying properties. The cream contains Sebaryl, a natural astringent with mattifying and soothing effect.
Step 4 – masking – Vivanatura anti-acne mask with clay and tea tree

This is basically a clay mask, suitable for oily and combination skin, which also contains tea tree, another natural ingredient perfect for fighting against acne. The mask contains 99% natural ingredients (several plants extracts such as neem oil, chestnut extract, chamomile, green tea, and thyme among others). The mask is applied in a thin layer and it’s removed after 5 minutes by washing it off with warm water. I use it once a week because it can be quite drying on the skin.
Results so far
Now that I told you about everything I use, it’s time to talk about the results. My acne was present mainly in the chin and forehead area and I had large blackheads on the nose. I also had some scarring because I couldn’t stop myself and I popped a few pimples here and there. At first, my skin didn’t seem to agree with this new routine, which I noticed because of the appearance of whiteheads in my T-zone.
However, after a week, a week and a half, the whiteheads stopped and I noticed that my skin visibly improved, especially on the forehead. I still struggle with some acne in the chin area, but it’s definitely an improvement and the scars are also healing. I have to mention that there were light scars, not serious damage.
So far, I’m happy with the results and I think I’m gonna stick with these products at least for a while, especially during summer. They’re all very affordable and I also like the ingredients they contain. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the astringent lotion and then the face cream. My least favorite is the mask just because I think it’s a little bit harsh on the skin.
I know Romanian products are not available for everyone, but I decided to share my experience with these products anyway because it might be helpful for some of you. Also, if you’re struggling with acne, remember that acne is caused by different factors and the skin reacts differently for each person, so I can’t guarantee you that this acne routine will work for you. If you have severe acne issues, you should definitely consult a dermatologist.
Final tip: I don’t think that you absolutely have to use each and every product from a certain skincare line. For me, I find that I obtain the best results if I pick and choose the products that I like from different brands.
