Sephora Collection Moisturizing Gelee Face Moisturiser review

sephora collection moisturizing gelee

Given that we’re in full summer season and my combination skin turns to oily during excessive heat, I avoid face cream with a richer texture and I focus more on using very light creams or face gels. So when I saw this face gelee (basically a moisturizing face gel) I wanted to give it a try. I don’t know why everyone seems to avoid Sephora Collection products because I don’t think they’re that bad.

This face gel contains pomegranate and promises to refresh the skin and relieve fatigue signs. The ingredients list is the following:

Aqua (Water), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Lecithin, Parfum (Fragrance), Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Disodium Edta, Diethylhexyl Syringylidene Malonate, Citric Acid, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Hydroxide, Ci 16035 (Red 40), Sorbic Acid, Ci 19140 (Yellow 5).

So don’t expect a natural product because it isn’t the case and it doesn’t claim to be.

I’m not the biggest fan of the packaging. It comes in a plastic jar that contains 55 ml but I don’t understand why the jar is so wide and short. I always feel like I’m about to spill the product in the sink when I use it. It seems an odd choice for a product that has such a light consistency.

All-focus

Speaking of the consistency, the texture is more liquid than the one of a face gel. It’s almost like a face lotion. It has a nice fragrance and a pink color (persons with sensitive skin should be aware of the perfume and additives used for coloring). It absorbs fast into the skin and it doesn’t leave any residue, but I do feel my skin is moisturized throughout the day. I also like the fact that it doesn’t leave that slightly sticky feeling on the skin like some face gels or gel-creams do.

Other than that, it’s like a basic face cream that you can get anywhere at the drugstore and I think it’s a little overpriced (I bough mine for about 12 euros which is what drugstore face cream costs that are a targeted towards certain skin issues, such as anti-aging – at least here in Romania).

I like it and I will use it up and I don’t have any bad reactions despite the not-so-friendly ingredients, but I don’t want to repurchase it. It’s too expensive for me for what it is because it doesn’t have any amazing effects on the skin.

If I were to recommend it to someone I would say you should try it if you have oily or combination skin and you want something with a very light texture especially for the summer season and you don’t have any intolerance to ingredients that can potentially irritate the skin. I don’t think it’s a bad product but I think there are better alternatives on the market.
