I’m so excited to share my review of this palette even though it’s probably sold out in most places since it was a limited edition release for the 2018 holiday season. However, it’s also my first high(er) end eyeshadow palette so I wanted to throw in my two cents.
Our Sephora online shop is currently doing their summer sales and between tons of Sephora brand products and Kat Von D (apparently no one buys her sh.. here either), I saw a couple of interesting makeup products and this BECCA palette intrigued me. It was 50% off so I got it for around 30 euros which is a great deal considering how expensive it was before. I know many people said this palette was a disappointment because it has a boring color scheme, but I wanted to try out their formula and also I like basic palettes because most of the time I just do a neutral eye.

The packaging is really beautiful. The case looks like a multicolored lava or something like that and it feels heavy and sturdy in the hand. It was a nice upgrade from my regular drugstore palettes that are often somewhat fragile.

The palette contains 12 pans arranged on 3 rows and they have 3 finishes: mattes, shimmery and metallic. The eyeshadows are infused with a natural mineral crystal, the black tourmaline. The palette is made in Italy.
I don’t want to sound like a snob, but I do see the quality in this palette, although it’s my first more expensive one. The eyeshadows are so buttery and creamy, they blend like a dream, they are pigmented and it’s like I don’t feel them on my eyelids. Some formulas feel “heavy” on the eyes on me (that’s why I’m not a fan of the Revolution Beauty formula).
Now let’s do some swatches in natural light and I’ll tell you more about each of the colors. I didn’t use any primer, the colors are not enhanced and I did finger swatches, so I did go a couple of times over a spot with my fingers to show off the colors.

From left to right the shades are the following:
Cloud – your basic browbone matte color
Volcanic Sand – light brown matte color
Granite – chocolate brown matte color
Gilded – this is just like liquid gold, a very high-shine metallic color
Diamond Dust – this white eyeshadow has an interesting texture that I think it’s a mix between shimmery and metallic
Haze – brown shimmery color with golden specks
Red Rock – brown-reddish shimmer color
Lava – metallic bronze color
Agate Ash – cool silver shimmery eyeshadow
Crater – shimmery grey color
Hematite – this is a mix between a grey and a blue glittery eyeshadow
Midnight Saphire – a gorgeous navy blue shimmery/glittery eyeshadow and my favorite in this palette
I must say, the shimmery or glittery eyeshadows and the metallics are really gorgeous. Just look at them in artificial light!

Here we have Gilded, Diamond Dust, Lava, Hematite and Midnight Saphire.
Working with the eyeshadows: I had no problem working with any of these eyeshadows and I’m no master of blending mind you. However, I can’t really pick the metallic shades on a brush so I like to pack them on with my finger and then I can use a brush just blend them with the rest of the eyeshadows. There was a little fall out in the pan because they’re so buttery, but they went nicely on the eyes and I didn’t have any problems with them.
Wear time: I did a couple of looks with the palette this week, when it was relatively hot here and I didn’t use any primer, just a little foundation to even out the skin tone. There wasn’t any creasing for at least 7-8 hours and the makeup looked still nice at the end of the day.
So, to conclude. I’m really happy I got this palette, although I have more than enough eyeshadows. It’s just that beautiful eyeshadows bring me joy and I’m happy I got the Volcano Goddess one. I just checked and it’s sold out in our Sephora online shop, so I’m glad I didn’t debate for too long if I should get it or not.
I know that people who have extensive eyeshadow collections will probably think it’s too boring or those who like basic neutral eyeshadows won’t like the amount of shimmers and metallics in it, but for me it works because I like wearing shimmery eyeshadows (I really don’t give a damn about my eyelid shape or my age) and I don’t like how I look with bright colors like reds, oranges and yellows which seems to be all the rage this summer.
Now I’m more than intrigued to try out some more of BECCA’s products and next time I’ll see a big sale in our Sephora store I’ll definitely go on a hunt for other high end products as well!
