I think I can safely say I’m a minimalist when it comes to makeup because I don’t tend to hoard tons of products. I have a couple of eyeliners, some lipsticks, a foundation, a primer, a concealer, a couple of bronzers and blushes and so on.
However, when it comes to eyeshadow palettes, I don’t know that it is but I find myself buying one almost each month, so now I have a small collection of palettes that realistically speaking I will last me for years to come. So I decided it was time to get rid of some palettes that I didn’t use that much and focus on the ones that I do love (which is a small basket to be honest and it’s quite enough).

Revolution Beauty Reloaded Newtrals 2 and Revolution Beauty Re-loaded Newtrals 3 (I write their names just like on the packaging so that’s why the “reloaded” thing is different).
I was never a big fan of this palettes from the beginning. I like some of the Revolution Beauty palettes (like that Soph Extra Spicy palette and the chocolate bar ones), but these were not my cup of tea. The formula is just too weird. The mattes are patchy and hard to blend and the shimmers are almost like cream eyeshadows and they crease like crazy. Plus, I’m not crazy about the color scheme, the colors are too bold for my taste because I tend to prefer neutral palettes.

essence be kissed by the moon and essence to the moon and back palettes are also some products that have to go from my collection. I like some of the essence eyeshadows, although the quality is not mind blowing and these are very affordable palettes. However, these two I don’t use at all because they are all shimmers with very little color payoff.
I tried to use at least the face products from the be kissed by the moon palette, but the blush is too shimmery for my liking and the bronzer as well. I like more subtle makeup and not that blinding blush and highlight thing.
As for the to the moon and back palette, the pan size on the eyeshadows is ridiculous and the only shade I liked was the gold one, but then the black eyeshadow pan fell out into the palette and messed the gold up so it’s not worth keeping it just for that one shade (I could clean it up but I don’t feel it’s worth to bother).

The Lovely Choco Bons eyeshadow palette was something I liked at first, but after a couple of uses, I found the eyeshadow pans to be too hard and the shades applied very patchy on the eye. Plus, I’m not an all-mattes palette kind of girl because I like to have a pop of shimmer on the lid or at least to use eyeshadows with a satin finish. Also, the vague chocolate scent is long gone by now.

Also, since I was going through my collection, I also decluttered this Avon lipstick because it’s already old (I don’t even know from what line it was or its name) and I don’t like to wear dark lipsticks although people say they look good on me. I’m not that brave I guess. It was an ok lipstick, but it could have been more creamy, especially because it didn’t have a matte finish but it made my lips feel dry.
Regarding my eyeshadow collection that I showed you last year, there were some other palettes that I have decluttered in time (to be honest, most of that collection is gone):
- the Fraulein 38 palette, because I have no use for big rainbow palettes and the formula was also not that great
- the IDC Color palette because the shades turned muddy on me regardless which look I tried to create
- theBalm palettes are both gone because I think they were fakes (the formula was not that great and the website I bought them from seems shady to me
So that’t it for my small declutter. I got rid of 5 palettes which is a lot for a small collection like mine, but don’t worry. I already have a new one to play with and I will let you know soon how I like it! 🙂
