Rilastil Acnestil Mat Sebum-Normalizing Moisturizing Cream review

Since I tried their makeup remover and I liked it very much because it’s also suitable for sensitive eyes, I decided to give it a shot with a face cream as well from this Italian brand. However, I wasn’t as happy with the cream and I can’t say that I found a new favorite brand.

Packaging:

The cream comes in a plastic tube that contains 50 ml. I would have preferred a jar or a bottle with a pump just because sometimes I tend to squeeze out too much cream for one application. The packaging is very simple, white with some blue and green writing on it.

Texture:

Unlike many face creams that are created for oily and combination skin and that have a gel-like texture, this one is like a regular, thick face cream. It has a very subtle scent to it, something herbal I think. It doesn’t bother me and it’s very vague, so I don’t think it would bother anyone.

Ingredients:

Aqua (Water) ● Dibutyl Adipate ● Dimethicone ● Glycerin ● Arachidyl Alcohol ● Behenyl Alcohol ● Niacinamide ● Panthenol ● Polymethyl Methacrylate ● Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6 ● Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil ● Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate ●Tapioca Starch ● Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract ● Arachidyl Glucoside ● Sodium Salicylate ● Tocopheryl Acetate ● Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate ● Xanthan Gum ● Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate ● Sodium Hyaluronate ● Citric Acid ● Polymethylsilsesquioxane ● Ceramide NP ● Sodium DNA ● Ceramide AP ● Ceramide EOP ● Phytosphingosine ● Cholesterol ● Carbomer ● Tocopherol ● Phenoxyethanol ● Ethylhexylglycerin ● Disodium EDTA ● Parfum (Fragrance).

Although there is also some perfume in it, it’s the last ingredient on the list, so I don’t think it should be as bothersome for people with sensitive skin. On the packaging it says it can be used by people with sensitive skin as well, so I don’t know for sure, but it seems to be pretty safe. I like the addition of nianicamids in the formula and the ferment extract that they market strongly in their product description, but other than that, I don’t know how I feel about the ingredient list.

Price and accessibility:

Rilastil products are easy to find in Catena pharmacies and also in some online shops. The cream was somewhere in the middle regarding the price. I paid 40 lei for it (about 9 euros) because I have a card from the pharmacy, otherwise it would have been 50 lei. So it’s not exactly affordable, but it’s also not like high end or expensive creams.

My overall opinion:

Considering the price tag and the fact that it’s available in pharmacies, I had higher expectations from this cream. It does a great job at mattifying the face, don’t get me wrong, but it also absorbs so fast into the skin that I have to hurry to spread it out and it has that effect that it creates tiny flakes on the skin, like if I were to use a gentle exfoliator. It bothers me, because I have to be careful to remove those.

The ingredients list also didn’t impress me much. I don’t think it’s one of the worst creams I have ever used, but I will also not repurchase it again. I think it does a great job at mattifying the face and I think it also helps with preventing acne (I tend to have small breakouts now and then in certain areas), but I want my skin to feel moisturized and matte at the same time, you know? This is a little too drying, so I feel like I need more from a daily moisturizer.
