Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment review

Although I had only a mini size of this product (30 ml) it took me several months to finish it just because I don’t use styling products that often. I like to keep my hair natural (except for the hair dye but that’s because I have grey hairs). I heard about this brand and I was curious to see how a Living Proof product was.

Packaging:

The full size (118 ml) comes in the bottle while the travel size comes in a tube. The packaging has a simple design, color-coded for different lines of products. It’s not bad or good, just a basic hair care product packaging.

Texture:

The treatment has the consistency of a sticky, thick, white cream like many other styling products. It has quite a strong citrusy scent that lingers on the hair, but it didn’t bother me.

Ingredients:

Water, Myristyl Alcohol, Maltodextrin/VP Copolymer, Octafluoropentyl Methacrylate (OFPMA), Lauryl Methyl Gluceth-10 Hydroxypropyldimonium Chloride, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Polyalkylaminoester-1 (PBAE), Polyquaternium-55, Hydroxyethylcellulose, C10-40 Isoalkylamidopropylethyldimonium Ethosulfate, Behenyl/Stearyl Aminopropanediol Esters, DimethylPABAmidopropyl Laurdimonium Tosylate, PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Ethylhexanoate, Oleth-10, Cetyl Alcohol, PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate, Steareth-2, Oleyl Alcohol, Steareth-10, Astrocaryum Tucuma Seed Butter, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Myrica Pubescens Fruit Wax, Caprylic Acid, Lauric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Propanediol, Fragrance, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citral, Citronellol.

The formula is paraben-free, phthalate-free, silicone-free and gluten free. It’s also cruelty free, offers UV protection, heat protection, and it’s safe for colored or/and chemically treated hair.

Price and accessibility:

Living Proof products are available here in online shops, so it’s not that hard to obtain them. They’re not that expensive, but they’re also not drugstore priced. The full size of this treatment retails for 29 US dollars, but considering that you don’t need much, I think a full bottle can last for a long time.

My overall opinion:

I noticed the frizz-free and smoothing effect, as well as the increased volume to the definition of hair strands (i have a layered hair cut so it did show), as well as the fact that the hair looked shiny and it didn’t felt stiff. However, I did have to be careful with the amount of product I applied, because it can make it look oily. I used just a small amount that I would rub between my palms and then work it through my hair starting from the midsection. I can’t say that I didn’t like how my hair looked when I was using it, but I think it’s just not my cup of tea just because I rarely use styling products.

Also, it can be applied on damp hair before blow drying but I noticed that I can let my hair air dry and it wouldn’t look bad, so that’s a plus, because some styling products don’t work if you don’t use some heat. Overall, I would say it was a good styling product and I would be interested to try some more products from the brand, but considering how quick I go through shampoos, it would probably just make a big hole in my budget.
