I got a travel size (20 ml) of this face cream in my Lookfantastic box and I was happy at first, because I like Madara products, but unfortunately this one wasn’t that great for me. But let’s take it step by step.
Packaging:
The full size (50 ml) comes in a bottle with a pump, which is much more practical, but my travel size came in a plastic tube.
Texture:
The face cream has a light texture and a rosy color that I think comes from the natural extracts in it because I know that Madara products don’t have any dyes in it. It also has a light fruity scent, but nothing that would be too bothersome.
Ingredients:
Aqua, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate, Behenyl Alcohol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Isoamyl Laurate, Rosa Damascena (Rosa) Flower Water, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea-buckthorn) Fruit Extract, Sodium PCA, Sodium levulinate, Aroma, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lecithin, Cellulose, Sodium anisate, Palmitic acid, Stearic Acid, Lactic Acid, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Linum Usitatissimum (Flax/Linseed) Seed Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Xanthan Gum, Paeonia Lactiflora (Peonia) Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium phytate, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, TocopherolCI 77491 (Iron oxide), Citronellol, Geraniol, Benzyl Salicylate, Eugenol
The formula is curlety free, vegan fiendly, gluten free and nut free. The key ingredients listed on the brand’s website are northern peony, linseed polysaccharides, beetroot betaine and hyaluronic acid.
The first ingredients are water, jojoba seed oil, glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride and Glyceryl Stearate. There is also some rose flower water, sea-buckthorn fruit extract, lactic acid, nettle leaf extract and Vitamin C in it.
Overall, the ingredients list looks good, just the soybean sterols my be pore-clogging for some, but not necessarily.
Price and accessibility:
Madara products are available in several shops and stores that sell natural and/or organic products. The full size face cream retails for 36.95 euros, so it’s quite expensive, considering that you do have to use a face cream daily.
My overall opinion:
While it says on their website that the face cream is suitable for all skin types, but especially for dry skin, I think that this was a problem for my combination skin. I think this face cream is just too reach because it didn’t quite absorb into the skin although I used less of it than what I would usually use (I tend to be generous with my face creams). For this reason, I used it only in the evenings, because I felt I could get away with using a deep hydration face cream that would be too heavy to use in the mornings.
Just because it’s not something suitable for my skin type and I think it would work better for dry or very dehydrated skin, I wouldn’t purchase this products on my alone, let alone a full size one. I still like Madara products, but this was just not one of them.
