SVR Hydraliane Legere Intense moisturising cream review

I got the full size of this face cream in my Lookfantastic box and it was the first product I got to try from this brand. SVR is a French dermocosmetic brand established in 1962 by Simone and Robert Veret with the aim to create products suitable for all skin types, especially for sensitive skin. Considering that our skin suffers from a lot of stress during this time both from external and internal factors, I think that products that are meant for sensitive skin can be used by anyone, so it doesn’t surprise me that this type of products are in demand right now.

Packaging:

The face cream comes in a plastic tube and it contains 40 ml. SVR products all have white packaging and there are different colors for different lines of the brand.

Texture:

The face cream is white and it has a thick texture but it absorbs very fast into the skin and it doesn’t feel heavy at all. It has a very light scent, but it’s barely there.

Ingredients:

AQUA (PURIFIED WATER), PROPANEDIOL, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CORN STARCH MODIFIED, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER, GLYCERYL STEARATE, CETYL ALCOHOL, MAGNESIUM GLUCONATE, MANGANESE GLUCONATE, ZINC GLUCONATE, SACCHARIDE ISOMERATE, SQUALANE, 1,2- HEXANEDIOL, ARACHIDYL ALCOHOL, ARACHIDYL GLUCOSIDE, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, C12-16 ALCOHOLS, CETETH-20, CITRIC ACID, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, PALMITIC ACID, PEG-75 STEARATE, POLYACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER-6, POLYSORBATE 60, SODIUM CITRATE, SODIUM LACTATE, SORBITAN ISOSTEARATE, STEARETH-20, XANTHAN GUM, C

The key ingredient listed both on the packaging and on the brand’s website is physio-adapted water (60%) and I noticed that many dermocosmetic products have some kind of water as their main ingredient, like Vichy or Ivatherm (this is a Romanian brand). The only potentially problematic ingredient is shea butter because it can be pore cloggin.

The first ingredients listed are water, propanediol, cyclopentasiloxane (lightweight silicone with a silky, slippery feel that functions as a skin/hair conditioning agent), caprylic/capric triglyceride and corn starch modified (used as an absorbent in cosmetics instead of talc).

Price and accessibility:

SVR products are available here in pharmacies and in several online shops and they are quite affordable. This face creams retails for 12.90 euros on the brand’s website which very reasonable for a decent face cream.

My overall opinion:

While I do appreciate the fact that the formula is light, suitable for all kinds of skin types, especially for sensitive skin and it’s an affordable brand, this particular face cream just wasn’t hydrating enough for me and I would feel my skin getting a little bit dry in some spots, like on my forehead and in the nose and mouth area.

I am interested in the brand so far, especially since it’s also cruelty free as far as I can tell, but not this particular face cream because I want something more hydrating. It may be a good match for the summer, when products with light formulas are perfect, but now, especially with the cold March weather we had here, it wasn’t enough for me.
