May 2021 Lookfantastic Beauty Box – The Ethereal Edition Unboxing

This month, I got my beauty box on time, so now I have the opportunity to do a proper unboxing at the beginning of the month. This month’s theme is Ethereal, due to the National Sun Awareness Week in UK that took place between 4-10 May 2021. The campaign is lead by the British Association of Dermatologists to highlight the detrimental effects of too much sun exposure. The color of the box is blue, which signifies serenity, tranquility, stability and calm.

So now that we covered this month’s theme, let’s which are the six products from the box.

Comfort Zone Hydramemory Cream Gel (15 ml)

The first product is a travel size of moisturizing gel with hyaluronic acid and natural extracts (moringa oil and watermelon). The color sure fits the overall theme and the texture of a gel cream is usually very light. I found this cream gel on a website at the price of 47 UK pounds for the full size (60 ml), so this travel size is worth 11.75 UK pounds (13.68 euros). Later edit: you can read my review on the Comfort Zone Hydramemory Cream Gel on my blog.

Ecooking Peeling Mask (15 ml)

This is another travel size, this time of a peeling mask. I can’t say that I love Ecooking products, but I will give this one a try as well. It contains lactic acid, glycolic acid and squalane. The full size (50 ml) retails for 209.05 lei on the Lookfantastic website, so the travel size is worth 62.71 lei (12.73 euros). Later edit: you can read my review on the Ecooking Peeling Mask on my blog.

Dr. Botanicals Kiwi Superfood Cooling Eye Serum (full size)

This is the full size product in the box and it’s a replacement for the promised ESPA 24hour replenishing eye moisturizer. I’m happy with the replacement because I’m not a fan of the smell of ESPA products. This eye serum contains kiwi seed oil, vitamin A, grapefruit, gluconolactone and caprylic. The serum retails for 112.94 lei (22.92 euros) on the Lookfantastic website. Later edit: you can read my review on the Dr. Botanicals Kiwi Superfood Cooling Eye Serum on my blog.

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm in Watermelon scent (full size)

For the forth products, there were two variations available. Either the lip balm or the Daily Concepts Multi-Functional Soap Sponge. I’m glad I got the lip balm because I never had one from Burt’s Bees before and I love everything that is watermelon scented. The lip balm retails for 22.54 lei (4.57 euros) on the Lookfantastic website. The products contains 4.25 grams.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Silicone Exfoliating Pad (full size)

Since they usually have one accessory in the box, this time it’s an exfoliating pad to use on the face with your favorite cleanser. I tried it already and it feels nice on the skin plus it’s cute being pink and all, but I’m not gonna lie, it’s kind of a boring product. The silicone pad retails for 7.99 UK pounds (9.30 euros) on the Vintage Cosmetics Company website. I wouldn’t pay almost 10 euros for a tiny silicone pad to be honest.

This Works Stress Check Kind Hands Cream (travel size)

Well, I guess I can always use a hand cream in these times, but I sure would have hoped for something more exciting. The hand cream contains shea butter, vitamin E, lavender, ylang-ylang and bio boost oil. The hand cream in the travel size retails for 5.83 euros on the ThisWorks website.

The total value of May’s beauty box is 69.03 euros, which is a very good value and I’m quite happy with most of the products. I like the gel cream, the eye serum and the lip balm, but I’m not that happy with the peeling mask, the hand cream and the exfoliating pad (the later two are rather boring). I was hoping for one makeup item but this month we didn’t get one, which is a little bit odd.

The sneak peek for June’s beauty box shows a Balance Me Pre+ Probiotic Cleansing Milk (30 ml) worth 8 UK pounds. It’s not exactly exciting, since I’m also not to keen on Balance Me products, but hopefully there are more fun stuff in the box.

Compared to last year’s May box, I would say they are about the same. The value of the box was much higher last year (because of an Avant moisturizer that they had in the box), but other than that, there was a Korres face mask, a cleansing cloth, a lip tint, an Eyeko eyebrow gel and a Balance Me plumping mist (it seems history repeats itself doesn’t it?).

If you enjoyed this unboxing and you want to subscribe to the Lookfantastic beauty box, I would highly appreciate it if you would use my my referral code and subscribe. (But don’t feel obliged to do it!)
