Avant Pink Orchid Subtle Restoring Overnight Serum review

It’s yet another time to review an Avant product and I have to say that I still haven’t change my mind and I think these are overexpensive products that are bot worth the high price tag.

Packaging:

Like other Avant products, this serum was a full size (30 ml) but because it came in a Lookfantastic box, it had a different packaging. The usual packaging is a bottle with a pump, but mine came in a plastic tube. I don’t mind, but a pump is much more useful for serums because they have such a liquid texture.

Texture:

Like I said above, the serum is very watery, like most serums are and it’s not clear, it has a white color. I didn’t notice any scent to it, which is not a bad thing. Surprisingly, it’s not like the majority of serums because it doesn’t absorb fast into the skin.

Ingredients:

aqua (water), glycerin, phenoxyethanol, propylene glycol, bis-peg-18 methyl ether dimethyl silane, sodium hyaluronate, mica – ci 77019, ethylhexylglycerin, xanthan gum, carbomer, titanium dioxide, glyceryl caprylate, malva sylvestris (mallow) leaf extract, citric acid, sodium hydroxide, dendrobium nobile extract, paeonia lactiflora root extract, caprylyl glycol, acetyl hexapeptide-8, pentapeptide-18, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate.

There are no pore-clogging ingredients in this serum, so it’s suitable for acne-prone skin. The top 5 ingredients are water, glycerin, phenoxyethanol (a cosmetic preservative that is considered one of the less sensitizing ones), propylene glycol and bis-peg-18 methyl ether dimethyl silane (a synthetic wax-like skin conditioning agent and surfactant belonging to the chemical class of siloxanes and silicones). Of course, there is also the mallow leaf extract, which I think it’s supposed to be the pink orchid.

Price and accessibility:

Avant cosmetics are not available in Romania, so they can only be ordered from abroad, from online shops. This serum is sold for 99 euros (!) on the brand’s official website, although I noticed that most of the products are 30% off when I visited their website, so I don’t know how “real” this pricing is.

My overall opinion:

Some of the Avant products were really “meh” from what I tried so far and some I liked. This overnight serum is not that great. Usually, when I use hydrating serums since I have oily to combination skin, my skin already feels moisturized even before I apply a face cream. With this serum, I felt my skin a little dry to be honest and I don’t think it’s as hydrating as it should be. Let’s just say there are drugstore serums that are better than this and are much more affordable.
