Ecooking Peeling Mask review

I must say I wasn’t as excited to try this product, for one because I’m not exactly a fan of the Ecooking brand (because their products just don’t seem to be very effective) and because I seen the unboxings of previous’ month Lookfantastic beauty box and people said that this peeling had a strong burning sensation. it doesn’t help that it says on the jar that if the skin turns red it means it works. I don’t agree, because I don’t think that a skin care product should be irritating at all, even if it is a peeling.

Packaging:

The face mask comes in a glass jar. I had the travel size, but the packaging is the same as the one of the full size product (50 ml). Ecooking does have nice packaging because they often use glass containers instead of plastic and I think they’re nicer and they can also be reused more easier.

Texture:

The face mask looks like any other face mask that has a thinner consistency. It’s applied on the face like a regular face cream, maybe in a thicker layer. It doesn’t have any scent to it and it can be easily removed with warm water after 5-10 minutes.

Ingredients:

Aqua**, Lactic Acid**, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Squalane**, Polysorbate 60, Gluconolactone, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate

* = organic · ** = natural

There are no pore-clogging ingredients. The top 5 ingredients are water, lactic acid, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer (a polymer that functions as a stabilizer, thickening agent, and opacifying agent), squalane and Polysorbate 60 (a cleansing agent). There is also salicylic acid and glycolic acid in there.

The ingredients list doesn’t look bad, although maybe so many acids in there cause the skin redness.

Price and accessibility:

Ecooking products are available in Douglas stores and in a few other onlines shops. They are somewhat of a mid-range skin care brand. For example, this face mask sells for 39 euros on the brand’s website, which is a little expensive, but not as expensive as other brands (Avant, I’m looking at you).

My overall opinion:

The first time I used this face peeling mask, my skin did turn red and I had a slight burning sensations which got my thinking if I should slap this on my face. However, the next times I used it, I didn’t have any reaction at all. I think it does the job of acting as a chemical peeling mask because the skin does feel very smooth and it looks radiant after using it, but I still wouldn’t pay 39 euros for something that may or may not burn my skin.

I used this face mask once a week, only at night because the skin shouldn’t be exposed to sun afterwards as it’s a little bit sensitive. Therefore, just because I think it’s a bit too harsh of a product, I won’t add this on my “want to buy” list.

  1. I got this product from the Beautybox, and tried it this morning (just prior to a work meeting, silly me). I’m now sitting here, my face in flames. I searched the net by the product name and got into your product review from last summer. (Apologies that my wording may be strange; I’m not a native English speaker). After reading your great review, I’ve got all the information I needed- not just of the product, but of your experience about it too. Thank you so much!!
