I’ve had this hair mask for quite some time, but only know I got round to do a review on it because I used it up and before throwing the packaging away, I wanted to give my opinion on it.
Douglas products in general are ok-ish, meaning that some of them are good, some of them are “meh” and some are just not worth the money since the prices are drugstore but on the higher spectrum of the drugstore pricing. This hair mask is a “meh” product, meaning it’s worth to get it if it’s on some kind of crazy sale like now, for 60% off on the Douglas website, but it’s not that amazing to pay full price for it.
Packaging:
The face mask comes in a tube that contains 150 ml. It’s red because there are different color codes for Douglas hair products, which can be very useful in the shower when you want to grab something and you don’t have to check twice if it’s the right product that you have at hand.
Texture:
This looks just like a regular face mask, it’s thick, it’s scented and it’s a very dark brown in color that stains the hands if you don’t wash it off immediately. Since it’s a tinted mask, that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Ingredients:
AQUA, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CETYL ALCOHOL, BRASSICAMIDOPROPYL, DIMETHYLAMINE, BEHENTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, Hc Blue No. 2, laureth-2, PHENOXYETHANOL, BASIC YELLOW 57, GLYCERIN, CETRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, HYDROXYETHLYCELLULOSE, PARFUM, POLYQUATERNIUM-22, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, CITRIC ACID, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, DISODIUM EDTA, TRIETHYLENE GLYCOL, BENZYL SALICYCLATE, LINALOOL, CITRONELLO, RIBES NIGRUM FRUIT EXTRACT, VACCINIUM MACROCARPON FRUIT EXTRACT, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE, SODIUM BENZOATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, PROPANEDIOL, GERANIOL, DISODIUM PHOSPHATE, POLYSORBATE 20, SODIUM PHOSPHATE.
The top 5 ingredients are water, propylene glycol (humectant, texture enhancer), ceterayl alcohol (fatty alcohol, emollient), cetyl alcohol (fatty alcohol used as an emollient, emulsifier, thickener) and brassicamidopropyl (hair conditioning ingredient made from brassica oil).
There is also cranberries extract and blackcurrant extract in this. There are no sulfates and the product is cruelty free.
The ingredients list doesn’t blow me away, but there are good ingredients in here and I can’t say that I see something that bothers me.
Price and accessibility:
Douglas products are available in Douglas stores and online on their website. The regular price is 65 lei (around 13 euros) which is still not much for a hair mask considering that it takes longer to used it up than a shampoo or conditioner, but now it’s on sale for 26 lei (around 5 euros). I would say it’s worth it, because it’s affordable and it’s an ok product.
My overall opinion:
I used this hair mask from time to time, not even on weekly basis, whenever I wanted to give my colored hair a little bit of “oompf” because I always color my hair as far apart as I can since I know that hair dye is damaging in one way or another. This hair mask makes my hair look shiny and it boosts the hair dye that I alreaday have applied (I have my hair dyed dark brown because it’s very similar to my natural hair color). It also has the same effects as any hair mask, making my hair feel silky and easy to detangle after my wash it and dry it with a towel.
Overall, I would purchase this hair mask, because it does help with the dull look of dyed hair after a while and it also doesn’t weight down my hair to make it look too flat or become oily faster.
