Barnängen Oil Intense Body Balm review

I got this body balm on a whim, when I ordered some shower gels and other stuff from my favorite online outlet. I was very pleasantly surprise and usually it takes a lot to make me really love a body cream because I don’t want much. Just for it not to be sticky and to to make the skin feel silky smooth.

Barnängen was a brand founded in 1868 in Stockholm, Sweden by Johan Wilhelm Holmström, a wholesaler. The first product launched by the brand was a soap. In 1976, Barnängen became the official Royal Court supplier. The name means “childrens’ flower field” in Swedish, which I think it’s actually very cute. The products used a lot of natural ingredients that can be found in Sweden and I love the brand’s philosophy.

Packaging:

The body balm comes in a plastic jar that contains 200 ml of product. I like the simple white packaging and the flower motifs that are used as decorations on all of their products.

Texture:

The body balm feels like a body butter, it’s thick but it absorbs fast into the skin. It has a pale pink color and a light rose scent, that really shouldn’t be bothersome even for those that don’t like the rose scent.

Ingredients:

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the ingredients list anywhere and I’m too lazy to copy everything from the jar. All it says on the brand’s website is that it’s a vegan formula, that contains 95% ingredients of natural origin, wild rose extract and the signature ingredient, the Cold Cream. Mainly formulated with Shea Butter and Glycerol as moisturizers and Sunflower oil, Allantoin and Chamomile as skin soothers, Barnängen’s protecting Cold Cream is designed to protect and care for the skin.

Price and accessibility:

Barnängen products can be found in Romania in some supermarkets, in beauty shops like DM (Drogherie Markt) and in various online shops, so they are easy to obtain. They are a drugstore brand so they’re affordable. This body balm is sold for 28 lei, which is about 5.5 euros. Since I got mine from an outlet, I paid just about 3.5 euros for it, which is great.

My overall opinion:

It’s one of the few body creams that actually sooths my skin after I shave or wax my legs and it helps me prevent redness and bumps. The skin feels soft and smooth even the next day when I go into shower but it doesn’t feel sticky or oily at all. The texture is like a whipped body butter, as it melts into the skin.

All I can say is that I really like this product and since it has such an affordable price, I want to try more from this brand. They have lots of body care products but unfortunately no face care because I think it would have been interesting to see what they come up with.
