I got two of this liquid lipsticks from my Lookfantastic beauty box and they couldn’t have been more different regarding my preferences and it’s all because of the colors. One color I love and I think it looks great on me, but the other is just crap and I can’t stand it so now I’m going to get rid of it instead of living it go bad in a makeup drawer. But let’s see what we have to deal with.

Packaging:

The liquid lipsticks come in clear plastic tubes with the usual black cap that is part of the Sleek MakeUP branding and each contains 6 ml. The clear packaging is useful because you can see right away what color you get.

Texture:

The lipstick does feel very creamy on the lips, but it does tend to become a little dry, just like in the case of any matte liquid lipstick, so it’s really not something that should be used in the case of chopped or very dry lips. At least not without exfoliating and moisturizing them before.

Ingredients:

Silica, Bentonite, Isododecane, Cyclomethicone, Polycyclopentadiene, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Trifluoropropyldimethyl/Trimethylsiloxysilicate , Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol. May Contain: CI 77891, CI 42090, CI 15850, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 19140, CI 45410.

As you can see, there’s nothing in there that is really moisturizing for the lips and that’s why it may feel a little bit dry when it settles. The good part is that it dries fast, the bad part is that it may be too drying.

Swatches:

The first lipstick that I got was in the shade 1036 Bittersweet, the shade on the right. This is a dark pink color that I think looks good on me as a brunette and it’s somehow enhancing my natural lip color.

The other lipstick is the shade 1169 Feels, which I think it’s supposed to be a light nude color, that look awful because it’s like it cancels out any color that I have on my lips and it looks just like I put some foundation on. I don’t think I look good in nude lipsticks, or at least not in this kind of nude shades, so that’s why I don’t wear it at all.

Price and accessibility:

Like I said before, Sleek MakeUP products are available in some online stores here in Romania, so they’re not hard to obtain and they have an affordable price. On the brand’s official website, they are sold for 4.99 UK pounds each. I think it’s a fair price for a drugstore liquid lipstick, but I do have to say that I’ve seen some better ones.

My overall opinion:

I like the fact that these lipsticks don’t transfer easily and they dry fast once applied, but the downside is that they are too drying and they can feel a little uncomfortable after a while. I can’t say that I like matte liquid lipsticks because of that drying feeling, but for what they are, I think they are decent enough.
