Look by Bipa Christmas Cookie Eyeshadow Palette review

You’re probably wondering what came over me to review a Christmas palette when it’s not even September. Well, on my vacation I did a little bit of shopping in a beauty store in Vienna called Bipa, which is actually a chain of stores throughout Austria. I didn’t plan on buying anymore eyeshadows but this palette was in the products on sale section because it’s from an older collection, so I decided to pick it up because it looked so cute. I know it’s not available anymore, but I wanted to see what the quality is for Look by Bipa products is, which is the makeup brand created by the store.

Packaging:

The eyeshadow palette comes in a cardboard packaging and it has a mirror. The color and the font is really cute, it does remind of a Christmas cookie.

Texture:

Out of the 9 eyeshadow shades, only one is a matte eyeshadow and the rest are either shimmery or have a satin finish.

Swatches:

Since I couldn’t find the ingredients list, we’ll just skip directly to the swatches, which were made on bare skin, using my fingers.

The swatches are starting from the top row, from left ro right:

Grinch Cookie – this looked like a gorgeous shimmery green, but it’s the worst color in the palette because it doesn’t look good on the skin and it applies rather streaky, even when I used an eye primer.

Gingerbread – a shimmery brown with some orange undertones.

Butter Tort – white with a satin finish, perfect to use in the inner corner of the eye or to add some highlight in certain areas.

Hazelnut & Cream – classic shimmery gold.

Cinnamon Pie – rich shimmery brown.

Pie Crust – the only matte shade in the palette, it looks just like my skin color, so that’s why you can’t see it. It’s a good base color to even out the color of the eyelid.

Pumpkin & Spice – shimmery burned orange shade.

Roasted Marshmallow – shimmery taupe shade.

Vanilla Cookie – shimmery champagne gold shade.

I like the color story, it’s not just a Christmas palette but also a suitable palette for autumn colors, but the green shade was a big disappointment. The other shades are just your typical warm neutral palette.

Price and accessibility:

Look by Bipa products are available only in Bipa stores, so that means that I can’t buy them which is a bummer. I don’t know the original price of this palette, but I got it on sale for 5 euros, which I think is actually a fair price for the quality.

My overall opinion:

For the price of 5 euros, this is a decent drugstore palette, although the color story is very simplistic and there are perhaps too many shimmers in here for the taste of many people. The eyeshadows applied nicely and blended easily, but the green is definitely a no-go. It looks muddy and it doesn’t translate as a rich green, just a like a streak of dark color. That was definitely a dud.

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this palette because it’s nothing out of the ordinary and the quality is not amazing, but I will treasure it in my makeup collection because it will remind me of my vacation and of the great times I spent in such a beautiful city.
