October 2021 Lookfantastic Beauty Box – Treat Yourself

This yellow little box arrived to me today and we got 6 products, just like each month. This month’s theme is “Treat Yourself”, which seems to be another self care centered theme that we also had in previous months in the box. The box doesn’t have a special design this time, but it’s yellow to evoke rejuvenation, regeneration and happiness. All the brands from the box are brands that we had before in the Lookfantastic beauty box, so there were no surprises here.

The good part is that there are no repeat products from previous boxes, so let’s see what we got to treat ourselves in the month of October. The tagline on the inside of the box offers a definition for the word “lykke” which means happiness, good luck and fortune.

Dr. Botanicals Turmeric Mask (30 ml)

This is a travel size mask from Dr. Botanicals with turmeric. I had a serum from this brand in the past, which didn’t impress me, so I hope the face mask will be better. It contains turmeric root powder, lavender and sea buckthorn. The full size (60 ml) retails for 84.35 lei (17.04 euros) on the Lookfantastic website, so the travel size is worth 8.52 euros. Later edit: you can read my review on the Dr. Botanicals Turmeric mask on my blog.

The Vintage Cosmetic Company Scrunchies (2 pieces)

For the accessories part, we got two yellow hair scrunchies from the Vintage Cosmetic Company, another brand that was present in the box in the past. These are those kind of scrunchies that are meant to not cause any damage to the hair. I’m wearing one as I type this and it’s really comfortable and it has a nice grip. I’m not the biggest fan of the yellow color, but they are nice. A pack of 5 scrunchies retails on the Lookfantastic website for 45.14 lei (9.12 euros), so 2 scrunchies are worth 3.64 euros.

Philip Kingsley Bond Builder (20 ml)

From all the hair care brands that we usually get in the Lookfantastic box, I have to admit that Philip Kingsley is my least favorite because I can’t get into their products. This is a split ends treatment that should be applied about every third hair wash. It contains green tea leaf extract and castor oil. This is just a sample size. The full size product (150 ml) retails for 158.20 lei (31.96 euros) on the Lookfantastic website, so the sample size is worth 4.26 euros. Later edit: you can read my review on the Philip Kingsley Bond Builder Split End Remedy on my blog.

Rituals The Ritual Of Mehr Body Cream (70 ml)

This is probably the product that I’m most excited about. It’s a body cream from Rituals that smells very good (in fact the entire box smelled nice from this body cream) that contains sweet orange, cedarwood and sunflower seed oil. This is another sample size, as the full size contains 220 ml and retails for 89 lei (17.98 euros) on the brand’s website, so the sample size is worth 5.72 euros.

Filorga Oxygen Glow Cream (15 ml)

Another familiar brand in the box is Filorga, this time represented through a sample size of a face cream that contains hyaluronic acid and L-enzyme. Filorga products are usually hit or miss for me, so we’ll see how this one works out, but I will try it next month because I’m trying a specific brand for my skin care routine. The full size (50 ml) retails for 156.79 lei (31.68 euros) on the Lookfantastic website, so the sample size is worth 9.50 euros. Later edit: you can read my review on the Filorga Oxygen – Glow face cream on my blog.

Ecooking Cleansing Gel (125 ml)

Finally, we have another brand that I’m not the biggest fan of, Ecooking. This is a cleansing gel with aloe vera, vitamin E and cucumber for normal and oily skin. It fits my skin type, but I will not use it right now because, like I said, I need to finish trying out some products from a specific brand for my skin care routine. This is a travel size, as the full size contains 200 ml and it retails for 90.97 lei (18.38 euros) on the Lookfantastic website, so it’s worth 11.48 euros. Later edit: you can read my review on the Ecooking Cleansing Gel on my blog.

The total value of this month’s box is 43.12 euros, much lower than what they claim, so it’s not one of their best boxes. to be honest, it’s one of the boxes I’m most disappointed in so far. There is no full size product, none, not even the hair scrunchies because they’re sold in packs of five. There is also no makeup item in here, when they usually have at least one. There are also brands that I’m not the biggest fan of, such as Dr. Botanicals, Ecooking and Philip Kingsley. To be honest, I’d rather put 3 extra euros to the price of this box and buy myself a full size of that Rituals body cream, the only item I’m actually excited about. This year, these boxes were definitely going down on quality because we got the same brands over and over again and Lookfantastic does sell many other brands on their website so I don’t know why they don’t collaborate with them. The products are also meh, nothing really exciting in here. I’m gonna get the last boxes of the year because I have a subscription active with them, but I won’t renew it. Sadly, I love the box very much last year, but this year there were some very disappointing boxes.

The sneak peek for November’s box is a travel size of the Comfort Zone Renight Cream (30 ml). That’s not exciting for me, as I wasn’t impressed with this brand in the past, but the theme seems more promising, as it’s called All of the lights.

Compared to last year’s October Lookfantastic beauty box, that one was much better, with a total value of 58.33 UK pounds, but I liked only the By Terry lip balm. There was a sample size face serum from Balance Me, a hair wrap (which is useful and I still use when I apply hair masks and treatments), a foot cream from Ecooking, a Starskin sheet mask and some bath salts from Bubble T. I only hope that October boxes are not that great because they are preparing for Christmas. Also, that box also didn’t have a makeup product in it.

If you enjoyed this unboxing and you want to subscribe to the Lookfantastic beauty box, I would highly appreciate it if you would use my my referral code and subscribe. (But don’t feel obliged to do it!)
