On my quest towards finding the perfect shampoo for my picky hair, I decided this new(ish) shampoo from Garnier from the Fructis line with watermelon for fine hair. By the way, Garnier is now a cruelty free brand which I very much applaud because we need more easily accessible drugstore brands that are cruelty free. It’s also a vegan formula with 96% ingredients of natural origin.
Packaging:
The shampoo comes in a cute bottle that reminds of the design of a juice bottle and it contains 350 ml, which is more than the average 250 ml that small shampoo bottles contain, but less than larger shampoo bottles.
Texture:
The shampoo has a thick gel texture, it’s clear and it has a delicious watermelon scent. It feels very hydrating on the hair and it makes it look soft, which I need because my hair is very dry right now.
Ingredients:
AQUA / WATER / EAU / SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE / COCO-GLUCOSIDE / COCO-BETAINE / PUNICA GRANATUM EXTRACT / COCOS NUCIFERA OIL / COCONUT OIL / CITRULLUS LANATUS FRUIT EXTRACT / WATERMELON FRUIT EXTRACT / GLYCERIN / GLYCERYL OLEATE / TRIETHYL CITRATE / LECITHIN / SODIUM CHLORIDE / SODIUM HYDROXIDE / HYDROGENATED PALM GLYCERIDES CITRATE / HYDROXYPROPYL GUAR HYDROXYPROPYLTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE / CITRIC ACID / TOCOPHEROL / ASCORBYL PALMITATE / SODIUM BENZOATE / SALICYLIC ACID / LINALOOL / GERANIOL / LIMONENE / CITRAL / BENZYL ALCOHOL / PARFUM / FRAGRANCE FIL #: C256470/1
The formula doesn’t contain silicones and parabens, but it does contain coconut oil, watermelon fruit extract, glycerin and salicylic acid (great for the scalp).
Price and accessibility:
I didn’t see this line at the supermarket (I know this sounds weird but in Romania supermarkets do have a beauty section where we can find the most popular drugstore brands) and I bought it from my local DM store for about 4.5 euros. It’s not that expensive, but there are a lot of other shampoos that are cheaper. For me, it’s definitely worth it if it’s something good for my hair. Also, it’s available in several online shops.
My overall opinion:
I like the fact that it doesn’t weight down the hair and that it gives it volume, and I also love the watermelon scent. I don’t think it’s enough for my hair because it’s very dry right now with oily roots, which is a pain in the ass to find the right products for. However, being an affordable drugstore shampoo, I think it’s worth trying for people with fine hair that need some hydration for their hair while still having the need for something that gives that extra volume.
