Philip Kingsley Bond Builder Split End Remedy review

I’m happy to say that this is most likeley the last Philip Kingsley product that I will review on my blog because…I just don’t like their hair products. I don’t know if it’s my hair type or I just don’t know how to use them properly (I wouldn’t put it past me), so this was also a fail for me.

Packaging:

The treatment comes in a plastic tube, both the full size (50 ml), as well as the 20 ml travel size that I had from last month’s Lookfantastic beauty box. Nothing exciting here, just a regular packaging for a hair care product.

Texture:

The treatment has the texture of a hair gel, because it’s very thick and sticky. It’s also yellow and it has a certain scent, which I’m not particularly crazy about.

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water/Eau, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate, Amodimethicone, Behentrimonium Chloride, Polyquaternium-10, Polysorbate 20, lsopropyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth-12, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrolyzed Oats, Parfum (Fragrance), linoleamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Propylene glycol, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol.

The key ingredient listed on the brand’s website is the hydrolized oat protein that is supposed to soften the hair’s texture, aid moisture retention and hydrate the hair. There is also a blend of waxes to smooth and moisture the cuticles and to help achieve a reflective shine.

Price and accessibility:

Philip Kingsley product, like I said before, are not widely available here in Romania and we have to order them from foreign online shops. The price of the full size product is 26 UK pounds, which is not exactly affordable, but it’s also not too bad for a hair treatment, especially since you don’t need much for a single application.

My overall opinion:

Like in the case of the Elasticizer that I tried in the past, this one also has a tricky application. The treatment is applied on damp hair before blow drying it. If you use too much, like I used the last time because I just wanted to finish it up, the hair looks greasy and dull. I can’t wait to wash my hair again, to be honest. It does help with the frizz, probably because of the waxes it contains, but I don’t see any reflective shine or anything like that. My hair doesn’t look like I would have had it washed at the hair salon, like you would expect from a professional treatment like this.

Therefore, I don’t like the product and I don’t plan to purchase it on my own. And I don’t like waxy things in general as I don’t use any hair was or anything like that to style my hair, especially because I always feel it oily and a little bit sticky. I will write this off as another fail on my list of tested products.
