I know I’ve been quite absent on the blog this month, but I had so much stuff to do on my hands (I also decided to start a reading challenge this year and I try to squeeze in a few pages daily) so I didn’t have the time to do some reviews. Also, there weren’t many new products that I used because I have mostly repeats and some things I had in my stash like this cleansing gel that I got in last October’s Lookfantastic box but I only started to use it now.
Packaging:
The cleanser comes in a plastic bottle with a pump, which I appreciate because if it were up to me, almost anything would be in bottles with pumps because I think it makes it much easier to dosage the right amount of product. The normal size bottle contains 200 ml, but I have a travel size which contains 125 ml. The packaging is still the same though and I like the labels that remind me of old apothecary concoctions.
Texture:
Although it’s a cleansing gel, it doesn’t feel as thick as most gels and it has a rather liquid consistency. It’s clear and it looks like aloe vera juice in my opinion. It also has a subtle fresh scent, but there’s also a fragrance free variant for those who don’t want to use fragranced products.
Ingredients:
Aqua**, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate**, Acrylates Copolymer, Glycerin*, Cocamidopropyl Betaine**, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol**, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil*, Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract**, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide, Parfum
* = organic · ** = natural
This is a vegan formula and it contains glycerin, sunflower seed oil and cucumber extract, which makes it very gentle on the skin, while it’s also very refreshing.
Price and accessibility:
Ecooking products are available in Douglas stores and also in some online shops. This cleansing gel in particular is sold for 27.50 euros on the brand’s website, which I think it’s too much considering that asides from being a gentle cleanser it doesn’t contain any amazing ingredients to justify the high price.
My overall opinion:
This cleansing gel is meant for normal and oily skin and I must say that I like how it feels on the skin. It is very gentle and even hydrating because it doesn’t dry out the skin at all. I usually need 2 pumps for a wash and it lathers up nicely, but not so much as regular cleansing gels. However, I haven’t tested it on eye makeup and considering that it doesn’t say on the bottle that it’s supposed to remove it, it’s probably not as efficient in that regards.
Like I said before, I’m not a fan of Ecooking products because I think they are overpriced for what they are, but at least this cleansing gel does feel very nice and it doesn’t dry out the skin, especially now when we had some very low temperatures over the last days. It’s still not worth it for me to purchase the full size product or to make me want to try some more stuff from Ecooking, so I think it’s safe to say this is the last review I’m doing on this brand.
