Avon Anew Dual Defence Clarifying Treatment Lotion

I didn’t have any high expectations with this one, but since I did enjoy that eye cream so much, I decided to give Avon skin care another chance (they had some really bad stuff in the past), so I chose this treatment because it sounded promising. It’s supposed to help with fine lines, but also with skin imperfections.

Packaging:

The packaging looks fancy, like a silver tube with an airless pump, which is both useful and you can also see when you’re running out of the product. Unfortunately, the plastic tube is made from a cheap, light, plastic, so it takes away a little bit from the overall design. It does look nice on the bathroom shelf, I’m gonna give it that. The tube contains 30 ml.

Texture:

It’s a milky-white lotion with a very light scent that absorbs fast into the skin. I like it very much because it’s non-sticky, so it doesn’t have the consistency of a serum.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Isododecane, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tromethamine, Dilauryl Thiodipropionate, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Phytol, Thiodipropionic Acid, Lactic Acid, Carbomer, C13-16 Isoparaffin, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Salicylic Acid, PEG-40 Stearate, Steareth-2, Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane, Colloidal Oatmeal, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, C10-13 Isoparaffin, Silica, Tetrahydrodemethoxydiferuloylmethane, Tetrahydrobisdemethoxydiferuloylmethane, Diazolidinyl Urea

Some of the best ingredients in here are the glycerin (skin-identical ingredient), the lactic acid (exfoliant), the salicylic acid (anti-acne), Tetrahydrodiferuloylmethane (skin brightening ingredient), the colloidal oatmeal (soothing), Tetrahydrodemethoxydiferuloylmethane and Tetrahydrobisdemethoxydiferuloylmethane (both very good antioxidants).

Another good thing is that the formula is alcohol-free and fragrance-free.

Price and accessibility:

Like all Avon product, it can be bought only through a consultant. The price is around 9 euros normally, but I got mine on a deal for 8 euros. For a good skin care product, it’s not a bad price.

My overall opinion:

Now comes the less good part about this treatment lotion. I’ve been using it in the evenings for more than two weeks (because it causes skin sensitivity and if you apply it in the mornings, you need to also apply an SPF) but I didn’t noticed any improvement regarding my breakouts (which I can’t seem to get rid off especially on the chin and around the mouth area). I don’t expect to see something groundbreaking, but honestly, this treatment lotion seems to have no effect on my skin. I hoped the lactic acid and the salicylic acid would help with my acne, but I still get pimples and there’s no improvement regarding my skin texture.

I’m gonna be neutral regarding this product. Just because it doesn’t work for me, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for anyone, but it’s not something that I’ll repurchase just because I don’t see the point of continuing to use it once I’m all out if it doesn’t make a difference.
