I got this nice serum as a gift from someone from Belgium and it was the first time I’ve ever heard about the brand Eliza Jones. Well, turns out this is a private label brand created by Orange Creatives (now they’re called Orchard Custom Beauty) and as far as I can tell the products can be found in several European countries such as France and Germany.
I was always a little afraid to use Retinol because I read that it makes the skin more sensitive and you should only use it when you wear SPF during the day, but since this is a low concentration product (0.5% Retinol) and I do use a daily moisturizer that has SPF, I was excited to try it out because I’m almost 36 now, I do have to think more about anti-aging and less about acne. Plus, many anti-aging ingredients are good for skin imperfections as well.
Packaging:
The serum comes in a dark glass bottle with a dropper and it contains 30 ml. I think it’s easy to use, the dropper works just fine and it’s suitable for something as liquid in texture as a serum.
Texture:
Speaking of texture, this feels very much like an oil, probably because it contains several of them. It has a yellow color and it absorbs quite well into the skin, even if a little goes a long way. I use only a little more than half a dropper each evening. It says on the packaging to store it in the refrigerator after opening, so that’s what I do.
Ingredients:
ASCORBYL PALMITATE, *******, DICAPRYLYL CARBONATE, GLYCERYL OLEATE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, *******, GOSSYPIUM HERBACEUM SEED OIL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS SEED OIL, *******, ISODODECANE, ISOPROPYL PALMITATE, ISOSTEARYL ISOSTEARATE, *******, OLUS OIL, RETINOL, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS EXTRACT, TOCOPHEROL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, VITIS VINIFERA SEED OIL (*).
It contains Levant cotton seed oil, sunflower seed oil, vegetable oil, rosemary extract and grape seed oil. Also, like the name says there is Retinol and tocopherol, two ingredients I like to see in skin care. Overall, this seems to be a good beginner-friendly Retinol serum.
Price and accessibility:
Unfortunately, Eliza Jones products are not available in Romania, but from my understanding they are quite common found in supermarkets and other stores in European countries. I found out the price varies between 2.50 – 3 euros, which is very affordable for a face serum.
My overall opinion:
I’ve been using the serum for two weeks now, in the evenings, because that’s how I read that you should use Retinol products and it looks like I barely touched the bottle. My face looks a little bit oily because I also use a face cream afterwards, but in the morning, the skin is plump and smooth and I look well rested. Plus, I did notice some improvement on the fine lines I have in the eye area and it helped heal faster some acne scars I had on my forehead.
Considering the very affordable price and the fact that it mostly contains plant-based oils and Retinol I really think this is a product worth trying and I would purchase it on my own if I had the opportunity to buy Eliza Jones products.
