It’s been a hot minute since I used an essence mascara but I do like them a lot and on my last trip to my local DM store I just had to pick this one up because it’s somewhat new(ish) in their line and because of the bright colorful packaging. The Double Trouble mascara comes in two variants: a waterproof one and an extra black one. I picked up the latter because waterproof mascaras are just so hard to remove and I don’t want to lose some eye lashes in the process.

Packaging:

Like I said before, the mascara comes in a cute white plastic tube with a pink cap. The tube is huge so it definitely takes up some space if I want to have it in my purse, but I don’t mind it. It also contains 12 ml, so it’s a little bit bigger than mascaras usually are. The mascara is made in Italy which is a bonus point because I have very good experiences with products made in that country.

Texture:

This mascara doesn’t have such a thick formula which I like, because it doesn’t make the lashes look clumpy and it still looks natural on the eyes while enhancing my lashes.

The wand is also interesting because the brush has two sides, one is an elastomer side for extra volume and a fibre side for definition and curl. I use both sides and I find that it works nicely to provide volume and length.

Like all essence products (from their current lines) this mascara is vegan and cruelty free.

essence products are found in DM stores and in several online shops. This one I got for 4 euros, which is great for a good quality mascara.

My overall opinion:

essence didn’t disappoint me with this one. I like the double-sided brush, I like the formula because it’s not making my lashes look clumpy, it’s not runny, I don’t get black streaks or anything under my eyes, even if it’s not the waterproof formula and it also feels comfortable on the eyes. Great drugstore mascara and great find!
