I know CeraVe products are suitable mostly for dry or sensitive skin and I have combination skin but I wanted to try a gentle cleanser because I was tired of cleansers for oily or combination skin that just make me feel like my skin is thirsty for hydration after using them.
CeraVe is a rather newer brand on the market, established in 2005 with the help of dermatologists to create products meant to stimulate the replenishing of skin’s natural barrier and for providing hydration through ceramides, which are the main ingredients in all of their products. The products are made in France and I’m a fan of French skin care so I decided to give this cleanser a try.
Packaging:
The cleanser comes in a bottle with a pump and it contains 236 ml. There is also a larger bottle available containing 473 ml. The pump is very helpful to get the right dosage and I find that one pump is enough for a single use. The packaging is simple, white and green or blue, depending on the line.
Texture:
The cleanser has the texture of a white gel, which doesn’t make any foam in contact with water but it does get the job done to cleanse the skin. It doesn’t have any scent as it doesn’t contain any pefume.
Ingredients:
AQUA/WATER, GLYCERIN, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, STEARYL ALCOHOL, CETYL ALCOHOL, PEG-40 STEARATE, BEHENTRIMONIUM METHOSULFATE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, POLYSORBATE 20, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, POTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, DISODIUM EDTA, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, SODIUM LAUROYL LACTYLATE, CERAMIDE NP, CERAMIDE AP, PHYTOSPHINGOSINE, CHOLESTEROL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, XANTHAN GUM, CARBOMER, TOCOPHEROL, CERAMIDE EOP
The key ingredients in this are three type of ceramides and hyaluronic acid. Also, Phytosphingosine is a good antimicrobial ingredient and there isn’t really anything bad about the formula that I can see in the ingredients list.
Price and accessibility:
CeraVe products are available in pharmacies and in several online shops. I ordered mine from a pharmacy (Dr. Max) and I got in about three days because they didn’t have this particular product in stock in my town (just the dry skin version). It has an affordable price, around 5 euros which is a really good deal.
My overall opinion:
After using the products for the last 3 weeks, I must say I really like this cleanser. It’s for normal to dry skin, but you wash it up so I don’t feel like there’s a problem if I have combination skin. It removes dirt and makeup very well and my skin does fell hydrated and soft after using it and without the usual slight redness that I experienced after using other cleansers for oily skin.
So, yes, I would recommend this cleanser because it’s so gentle on the skin and I do think it’s something suitable for any skin type.
