You are probably expecting me to review this lotion because I use it on my body, but no. It says it’s for face and body, so…I use it on my face. Very bold of me, especially since it’s a lotion for normal to dry skin. But I decided that skin care shouldn’t be so complicated, especially since there are plenty of nice, affordable products on the market. After using the CeraVe cleanser for a couple of month now and I think it’s brilliant, I wanted to add a moisturizer from this brand as well into the mix. And why not use something that comes in a big bottle that will last me for months?
Packaging:
The lotion comes in a plastic bottle with a pump, which makes it very easy to get the right amount out. It comes in two sizes, so I got the “smaller” 236 ml one. It has a very simple design, with white and blue. I tried to find a lotion for combination skin but since I couldn’t find one in a big bottle, I settled for this one.
Texture:
Since this is a lotion, it has a very lightweight texture. It’s white and fragrance free and it absorbs very fast into the skin without making me look oily. The skin feels soft and plump after applying it.
Ingredients:
Purified Water, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Niacinamide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6-II, Ceramide 1, Phytosphingosine, Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Dimethicone, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Ceteareth-20, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Cholesterol, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Phosphate, Potassium Phosphate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
Like all CeraVe products, the key ingredients are the 3 types of ceramides, plus the niacinamides and the hyaluronic acid, so these are all good ingredients for the skin. It also contains glycerin, plus Phytosphingosine, which is lipid with antimicrobial and cell-communicating properties, so it’s considered also an anti-acne ingredient.
Price and accessibility:
CeraVe products are available in Romania in pharmacies and in several online shops. I got mine from a Polish online shop (hence the language on the packaging) for around 9 euros, which is an excellent price considering the large quantity (not so great if you use it on the body though).
My overall opinion:
I can’t say anything about this as a body moisturizer, but I’ve been using it since a few weeks in the mornings for my face (I still use my big tube of Avene Cicalfate in the evenings) and I’m really happy with how my skin looks and feels. It really is a bargain to have such a big bottle of moisturizer that really does moisturize the skin without any breakouts or irritations or without any other problems. And yes, although I have combination skin, this lotion is not too heavy for me and that’s why I prefer to use it during the day.
I would recommend not only this moisturizing lotion, but CeraVe products in general to anyone who want to have a simple and effective skin care routine.
