Avon True Colour Winged Out Mascara review

I don’t usually do reviews on Avon products because I don’t like to support MLMs and because the products are not that great. But, ever now and then, if I find a gem I want to tell you all about it because that’s what we do here: we share the good and the bad together. I tried a few mascaras from Avon and this is one that not only I like very much, but I think it’s one of the best when it comes to affordable mascaras. So, just like their eyeliners, some of their lipsticks and some of their nail polishes, this one is something that I will repurchase again and again.

Packaging:

The packaging is nothing special, just a plastic black tube with a silver lid. It contains 7 ml which is not bad, but there are larger tubes out there.

The wand is is a slim fiber one, which is very handy to get into those little lashes in the corner of the eye. Hence, the name of the mascara because it does help me to create that winged out look in the outer corner. I have decent long lashes, but they tend to stay up straight and with this mascara I can make them look curly even without using a lash curler.

Texture:

The texture is how I like it, not too thick, so it’s not good for clumpy spider lashes (I know some people like that, but I want them to be defined, not to be thick and to stick together). It’s also not as thin as to be too water down, so it’s perfect. However, the color is not as intense, so it’s a black mascara but not one of those deepest black one.

Ingredients:

AQUA, PARAFFIN, STEARIC ACID, ACRYLATES/ETHYLHEXYL ACRYLATE COPOLYMER, CERA ALBA, HYDROGENATED POLYCYCLOPENTADIENE, POLYISOBUTENE, TRIETHANOLAMINE, ISODODECANE, VP/HEXADECENE COPOLYMER, SILICA, SORBITAN STEARATE, COPERNICIA CERIFERA CERA, GLYCERYL ROSINATE, POLYVINYL ALCOHOL, NYLON-6, ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, POLYIMIDE-1, HYDROGENATED POLYDECENE, PHENOXYETHANOL, SORBITAN SESQUIOLEATE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, ACACIA SENEGAL GUM, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, SODIUM HEXAMETAPHOSPHATE, DISODIUM EDTA, POLYURETHANE-1, ETHYLENE/METHACRYLATE COPOLYMER, POLYQUATERNIUM-7, DIMETHICONE, LAURETH-21, ISOPROPYL TITANIUM TRIISOSTEARATE, GLYCERIN, PEG-40 STEARATE, ROYAL JELLY, SILYBUM MARIANUM EXTRACT, LONICERA JAPONICA (HONEYSUCKLE) FLOWER EXTRACT, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED EXTRACT, LEUCONOSTOC/RADISH ROOT FERMENT FILTRATE, HIBISCUS SABDARIFFA FLOWER EXTRACT, METHYLPARABEN, ETHYLPARABEN, [+/-: CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77007, CI 77266 [NANO], CI 77266].

I’m not an expert in mascara formulas, so I don’t really know how the ingredients are, but I do know it’s not vegan and, as we all know, Avon is not cruelty free.

Price and accessibility:

Avon products are available only through their consultants, which kind of sucks, because I for example have to wait until the person I order from decided to actually place an order. The price is nice, around 3.5 euros, which is very affordable, just like essence mascaras which are some of the cheapest drugstore ones that I like.

My overall opinion:

Like I said in the beginning, I decided to write about this mascara because I really think it’s a good product even though I’m not a fan of the brand. It’s for people who want to add definition to their lashes and volume, not for those who want to add more length. Again, like I said before, it’s not good for the spider lashes effect, but I like it because it perfect for everyday use and the wand is slim enough to use it on my lower lashes as well and still make them look nice and defined. So, that being said, I do recommend it, and it’s one of the few Avon products that are actually good, because the makeup is really not that great (and the skin care as well, if we’re on the subject).
