Since I started my quest for honey-based cosmetics, I came across this face cream that was recommended to me by my mom. She got it from a local store that specializes in selling all kinds of honey products, but I also found it online in the Dr. Max pharmacy online shop.
The Apidermin face cream is made by the Veceslav Harnaj Apicultural Complex. The story of the complex began in 1957, when professor Veceslav Harnaj and some friends, passionate beekeepers, founded the Beekeepers Association. It was the first association of the beekeepers’ guild in Romania. In 1965, based on the plans of Professor Veceslav Harnaj, the Baneasa Apicultural Complex was founded, under the name it still holds today: Veceslav HarnajApicultural Complex.
The cosmetics range consists of 62 products, from face creams, hand creams and shampoos to face toners and liquid soaps.
Packaging:
The face cream comes in a basic white plastic jar with a label on it. It’s very simple, but since it’s a cheap product, I can’t complain. The jar also has a cardboard packaging where all the information on the product is listed. The jar I have contains 50 ml, but this face cream is also available in 30 ml jars.
Texture:

The face cream has a very thick consistency, similar to that of a thick whipped cream. It has a very subtle scent. I think it’s probably because of the beeswax, but it does take some time to absorb into the skin.
Ingredients:
Paraffinum liquidum, Aqua, Beeswax, Cetyl alcohol, Lanolin, Cholesterol, Glyceryl stereate, Disodium lauroyl glutamate, Triethanolamine, Phenoyethanol, Decylene glycol, Caprylyl glycol, Royal jelly, Tocopherol, Retinyl palmitate, Hexyl cinnamal, Parfum, Citronellol, Limonene, Alpha-isomethylionone, Linalool, Benzyl salicylate
I can’t say that I’m thrilled about the formula because there are so many perfuming ingredients in this face cream and it’s all for nothing in the end because it doesn’t even have a strong scent. At least the retinol and the cholesterol are good as anti-aging, skin-identical ingredient respectively.
Price and accessibility:
The face cream is available in the Veceslav Harnaj Apicultural Complex online shop, in the Dr. Max online shop and in various natural drugstore shops (these are place that sell plant-based cosmetics, supplements and foods). I got the face cream for around 3 euros, which is more than affordable.
My overall opinion:
I think it’s a nice thick cream for dry skin, but for me it’s a bit much. However, I like using it in the evening instead of the Apidava face cream (I started using that in the morning because it’s not as thick) because I feel like it does help the skin to regenerate, it has a firming effect on fine lines and it makes the skin look plump and soft. I don’t know if I would use it now going into the summer after I finish this jar, but for the winter, it’s like one of those cold creams that our grandmothers used in the evening and I think it has a good effect on the skin.
