Since I loved the CeraVe hydrating cleanser so much, I decided to try the foaming cleanser as well because it’s for normal to oily skin. I have combination skin, so I thought that maybe this one would be better. I have to say, I think I either chose the wrong product or my skin has changed now that I’m getting older.
Packaging:
The cleanser comes in the same white bottle with a pump, just like the lotions and the hydrating cleanser. Because there was a sale at the Dr. Max pharmacy I was eager to get the big 473 ml bottle, but the cleanser is also available in 273 ml bottles and, of course, huge 1000 ml bottles (it’s a face and body cleanser so maybe that’s why).
Texture:
It’s a scentless clear gel that foams up when applied on damp skin. It doesn’t feel as hydrating as the creamy one, that’s for sure.
Ingredients:
AQUA/WATER, GLYCERIN, COCO-BETAINE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, SODIUM COCOYL GLYCINATE, PEG-120 METHYL GLUCOSE DIOLEATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, ACRYLATES COPOLYMER, CITRIC ACID, CAPRYLOYL GLYCINE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, NIACINAMIDE, DISODIUM EDTA, SODIUM HYALURONATE, SODIUM LAUROYL LACTYLATE, CERAMIDE NP, PHENOXYETHANOL, CERAMIDE AP, PHYTOSPHINGOSINE, CHOLESTEROL, XANTHAN GUM, CARBOMER, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, CERAMIDE EOP
Like all CeraVe products, the key ingredients in this cleanser are hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and three types of ceramides.
Price and accessibility:
CeraVe products are available in pharmacies and in several online stores. Like I said, I got mine from the Dr. Max pharmacy for about 8 euros, which is a very good price, considering that it’s usually sold for about 10.50 euros (in some stores it’s pricier).
Considering that it’s such a big bottle and you only need one pump for a face wash, I would say that it’s a very affordable product.
My overall opinion:
I’m still a fan of CeraVe products, but this one is not a favorite of mine like the hydrating cleanser. The skin feels a little dry after I wash my face and I very much prefer the hydrating feeling I have after I use the other one. I’ll give it that, I fell like it removes the makeup faster, probably because it’s not so gentle on the skin.
Therefore, I would say that for oily skin, it’s worth giving it a go, but since I have combination skin with dry spots especially during the cold season, next time I will stick to my usual CeraVe hydrating cleanser instead of the foaming one.
