On my quest for the perfect shampoo, I encounter this one, at the Dr. Max pharmacy. Of course, because it’s a huge bottle, the shampoo really doesn’t do it for me and I don’t know what i will do with it now.
EightTripleEight is a strange name for a brand and I don’t even know what it’s supposed to stand for. I found a website that suggest this being a UK brand, but the shampoo is made in Estonia, so I really don’t know what to make of it. They make only hair care products, mainly shampoos and conditioners. When I saw the big bottle I thought it’s maybe a professional salon brand, but now I really think that’s not the case. Anyway, the products are vegan, paraben free, cruelty free and made with RSPO certified sustainable palm oil.
Packaging:
The shampoo comes in a huge plastic bottle with a pump that contains 1000 ml. I didn’t purposely chose such a large bottle, but there aren’t any other sizes available. The plastic bottle is very flimsy, made from a very cheap and thin plastic.
Texture:
I’m not a big fan of the texture either, because it’s just a clear, citrus-scented liquid. I have to use 5 pumps for a wash even though I have just medium length. So maybe that’s why they use a huge bottle because you need a lot of product to work it into the hair, otherwise it feels like water.
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamide DEA, Glycerin, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate, Tocopherol, Citric Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Polyquaternium-7, Ascorbic Acid, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Limonene.
I don’t have anything to say about the ingredients list. My hairdresser told me to avoid silicone and it doesn’t appear to contain any, but for some reason it makes my hair look like hay.
Price and accessibility:
EightTripleEight products are available in Dr. Max pharmacies and in several online shops. I got it from Dr. Max on sale for about 4 euros because it usually costs around 6.5 euros. Either way, it’s very cheap considering the huge amount, but I guess you get what you pay for…
My overall opinion:
I don’t know what it is about this shampoo, but my hair feels very tangled after I wash it (more than usual that is) and it also looks very dull and flat. Granted, I have to do a blow out to make it look nice, but even when I just let it air dry it does have some volume at least in the first day. With this shampoo, it looks flat and lifeless. In other words, I wouldn’t recommend it for thin and oily hair. Maybe for other hair types it works better, but not for me. I have used it alternatively with the Oriflame lemon shampoo and I have to say I prefer that one. But I still need to find the perfect shampoo for me.
