Putting the Perspirex deodorant to the test as an extremely sweaty person

As I started getting older, I have become sweatier than I used to be which frankly is a pain in the behind during the summer season. I sweat all the time, even during winter and all over my body, from forehead to my feet. That’s why, I wanted to get rid of at least one problem, my sweaty armpits.

Perspirex is one of those heavy-duty deodorants that claims to stop the sweat for several days in the row, even if you take baths in between, of course. It’s available in three variants: Perspirex Comfort for sensitive skin, Perspirex Original for normal skin and Perspirex Strong, which is the one that I have.

The Perspirex manufacturing company, Riemann SA, is a Danish factory specializing in skin care products. It was founded by Claus Riemann, who had the vision to create products with a “goal to identify the effect of the product” – an effect that people can feel when they use the product. This simple yet challenging ambition represents their vision today.

For over 30 years, Perspirex has helped millions of people around the world with special sweat control needs. Claus Riemann developed Perspirex in 1979 for his sister, Bodil, who suffered from excessive sweating of her feet. This is how one of the most effective antiperspirant on the market appeared.

Perspirex has since developed into a true niche brand with sales in over 30 markets worldwide, with strong growth in Europe.

Packaging:

The deodorant comes in a typical plastic bottle with a rollerball and it contains only 20 ml, but since it doesn’t have to be used daily or even several times a day, it’s enough.

Texture:

It has the texture of a normal deodorant and it has no scent because it doesn’t contain any fragrance.

Ingredients:

Alcohol Denat., Aluminium Lactate, Aluminum Chloride, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Palmitate, Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil.

Price and accessibility:

Perspirex is available in most pharmacies and only in a few online shops. I got mine from the Dr. Max pharmacy for around 9 euros, but it’s usually more expensive than that. It’s not affordable for a deodorant, but since it doesn’t have to be used often, it’s worth it.

My overall opinion:

The formula of the deodorant reacts with the water in the sweat gland and forms a temporary gel plug. The formed gel plug prevents sweat from reaching the surface of the skin and thus avoids unpleasant sweating, leaving the feeling of dry skin. The active skin care system provides extra comfort to the skin and reduces skin irritation. The plug dissolves naturally after 3-5 days along with the natural elimination of dead skin cells.

For the deodorant to work, it needs to be applied for 7 consecutive days in the evening, on dry skin and then the skin must be washed in the morning. Since I have the strong version, I noticed a tingling sensation after a few days when I applied it in the evening, but it was bearable. Then, I applied every 3-4 days and it doesn’t irritate the skin.

Before it became hot outside, I really didn’t sweat which was close to a miracle to me, but now, although it’s not as bad as it used to be, I do sweat when I have to walk through hot sun for more than 10 minutes.

Even so, for me it’s worth it because it’s not as bad as it used to be and my skin is not irritated. Perspirex also does some feet and hand lotions, but I haven’t seen them anywhere or I would test them too.
