I knew about Bio-Oil for quite some time now, but I was never interested to try it out because I always associated this oil with mommies and stretchmarks and I don’t have any of those issues. Well, since I have some ugly scars on my legs because of all the ingrown hairs and there was a sale on Bio-Oil in the Dr. Max online pharmacy, I got a mid-sized bottle.
Packaging:
The oil is available in 60 ml bottle, 125 ml bottles and 200 ml bottles. I got a 125 ml bottle because I thought it was enough to get me started with it.
Texture:
Since the name says it all, Bio-Oil is a body oil with a light pink color and a nice scent. For those who don’t like scented products, this one should be avoided. But since I do like scents, especially in body products, I don’t mind it.
Ingredients:
Paraffinum liquidum; Triisononanoin; Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate; Isopopyl Myristate; Retynil Palmitate (vitamin A); Helianthus Anuus Seed Oil; Tocopheryl Acetate;
Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil (chamomille oil); Lavandula Angustifolia Oil (lavender oil); Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil (rosemary oil); Calendula Officinalis Extract (marigold extract); Glycine Soja Oil; BHT; Bisabolol; Parfum; Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone; Amyl Cinnamal; Benzyl Salicylate; Coumarin; Eugenol; Farmesol; Geraniol; Hydroxycitronellal; Hydroxyisohexil 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde; Limonene; Linalool; CI 26100.
Price and accessibility:
Bio-Oil is widely available in pharmacies and in several online stores. It’s not affordable, but it’s also not really expensive. The 125 ml bottle is sold for around 12-13 euros. Since I don’t use it all over my body, just on my legs, it does last for a long time.
My overall opinion:
On the packaging, it says that I should see an improvement on my scars after 3 months of using it daily and it’s only been a few weeks. However, I did noticed that I have considerably less ingrown hairs and irritation after hair removal. Even just for that it’s good, because at least it prevents new scars. Also, the skin does feel nice and smooth and I like the scent, so it’s something I see myself using constantly for my legs at least. I don’t know how it is on the face because I thinks it could be something more suitable for very dry skin and with me it’s not the case. Overall, I would say that it’s a nice body care product, but I don’t know if it’s really as miraculous as all the claims say.
