So, you know how I always look for new skin care products and I always change up my routine? And how I love the products and say that I will stick with them but then I find something new and I change it up all over again? Well, this is what happened now.
I saw this ad on Facebook for a Romanian beauty firm that is actually a small family-owned business. That’s right. They’re husband and wife and they grow their own plants, make their own extracts and essential oils and now they have released some beauty products that seem too good to be true, especially since they don’t cost an arm and a leg like most natural/organic beauty products. All the products are vegan and cruelty free. The firm’s name is Mayie and I chose to try a beauty routine that they sell in their online shop called the Hydrate and Protect Routine, which consists of only three products: a cleanser, a hydration booster and an SPF moisturizer. Plus, I also got a body care product because it was just so tempting. But, let me tell you a little bit about each product.
Mayie Silk Effect Gentle Cleanser

The cleanser comes in a nice bottle that contains 200 ml. There is plenty of information about the product on the bottle, but there is also much more information online.
Ingredients:
Rosa damascena flower water**, sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate***, coco-glucoside, propanediol***, polyacrylate crosspolymer-6, niacinamide, glycerin**, lactic acid***, gluconolactone, calcium gluconate, sodium phytate***, sodium benzoate.
The rose water is the key ingredient and it’s made by Mayie (they also sell rose water on its own), but there is also niacinamide in there, which we all know is a very nice ingredient in skin care.
The cleanser is very gentle, it’s not foamy or anything, but it does a good job being a cleanser, meaning the skin does look clean and it looks fresh and smooth after using it. The rose scent it not something that I love, because it’s a natural scent and some roses have that scent that is a little bit too sweet, but I don’t mind it. The cleanser is sold on its own for about 6 euros.
Mayie Hydration Booster Jelly

The hydration booster has the consistency of a gel and it comes in a bottle that has one of those pumps that go up a little each time you use the product. This is actually my favorite type of packaging because it’s clear, so I can see when it’s about to finish and this type of pump really helps to get all of the product out. Plus, it’s easy to apply just how much you want and it’s hygienic. The bottle contains 50 ml.
Ingredients:
Rosa damascena flower water*, propanediol**, urea, glycerin*, sodium hyaluronate**, gluconolactone***, sodium benzoate***, calcium gluconate***, sodium phytate**, sodium hydroxide***, polyacrylate crosspolymer-6.
The rose water is here also the main ingredient, but there is also hyaluronic acid in here and glycerin, which are great to hydrate the skin, but also for anti-aging.
They recommend to use the hydration booster jelly in the evening, so that’s what I do because I use the SPF moisturizer in the morning. The rose scent is naturally present in this formula as well. But, as you can notice, there is no perfume or scented ingredients in it. The hydration booster is sold for about 7 euros.
Mayie Daily Defence SPF 50+ Moisturizer

Ok, now the best of everything, this moisturizer it’s like it was made for me. Do you know how expensive a face cream with high SPF is? This one is amazing and it has also ingredients that I love. The face cream also comes in a bottle with that cute pump and it contains 50 ml.
Ingredients:
Rosa Damascena Flower Water**, Propanediol***, Water, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, 2-Ethylhexyl Trans-4-Methoxycinnamate, Sorbitan Laurate***, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Octocrylene, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin**, Rosehip Cold Pressed Oil**, Tocopherol***, Gluconolactone***, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil**, Kappaphycus Alvarezii Extract, Spirulina Maxima Extract, Digitata (Kelp) Extract, Sea Water Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Rool Ferment Filtrate, Sodium Benzoate***, Polyglyceryl-4 Laurate***, Lecithin, Dilauryl Citrate***, Calcium Gluconate***, Phenoxyethanol.
Besides the rose water, I love the rosehip oil (great for anti-aging and not only), the algae extract (I remember I liked the moisturizers that contained algae extract), not to mention the broad-spectrum UVA and UBV protection.
The moisturizer has a light yellow color and the typical rose scent, but I don’t mind. Its not greasy at all, it absorbs fast into the skin and it doesn’t make the skin look shiny like other SPFs. To be honest, I really fell in love with this moisturizer. It’s about 13 euros on its own, but I think it was worth it because I only use it in the mornings.
The entire package costed about 18 euros for all three products, so it was a very nice discount and I really think it’s worth it. So much so that I want to repurchase it. And I really mean it this time. My skin looks and feels amazing and I think my mistake was to focus so much on mattifying products and acne-prone skin products that I neglected hydration. If the skin is hydrated, it just looks and if feels nice and even my light acne problems don’t bother me anymore. The skin texture has also improved, because there are by far less little bumps and the skin looks smooth and the pores don’t look so large like they used to in certain areas.
Vanilla Yum Yum Hydrating Body Custard

I got this body lotion because I was intrigued by the description. Plus I like yummy vanilla things. And it does have an interesting texture, similar to the one of a pudding, plus the scent is delicious. It smells just like vanilla pudding, how could I resist it? Other than that, it doesn’t do anything special, but it’s a very nice fast-absorbing and hydrating body lotion.
Ingredients:
Rosa damascena flower water*, propanediol**, glycerin*, helianthus annuus seed oil**, caprylic/capric triglycerides**, coco-caprylate**, rosa canina seed oil*, cetyl alcohol**, C14-22 alcohols**, tocopherol**, glucose** water**, sodium phytate**, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside**, gluconolactone**, calcium gluconate**, sodium benzoate, polyacrylate crosspolymer-6, parfum
There is also rose water and rosehip oil in the lotion and sunflower oil, but the yummy scent is due to perfume. However, the scent is light and very delicious, so I don’t mind it. The body lotion comes in a bottle with a pump that contains 200 ml and it’s sold for around 6 euros.
Overall, the body lotion I would say is just “nice”, but the face care products were a hit for me and I will repurchase them. There are also some vitamin C products and some cold pressed oils that I want to try from Mayie. I hope they will expand their product line with more skin care products and with hair care products but I think I will become a faithful customer. I’m proud that this is a 100% Romanian brand, moreover, a family-owned business and I wish them all the best for the future because the products they put out so far have great quality for the price.
