Lately I’ve been more into natural skin care products, or at least as natural as they can be. So, when I ordered an aloe vera body cream for my husband because we read that its good for psoriasis (spoiler alert, it does relief the pain caused by the wounds but it doesn’t help removing them), I saw that they had this body butter on sale and I decided to try it out.
Oleya is another Romanian brand (I’m sorry for my foreign readers that I write about things that are probably not interesting to them) that was founded by a pharmacist. Actually it’s annoying how often they specified this thing on their website. They have some products on there, but they mostly have vegetal butters and oils, and that’s really not something they make, they just import them from other places.
For example, this cocoa body butter came from Ghana, so, that’s great.
Packaging:

The body butter comes in a glass jar with a lid and it contains 100 ml. The packaging is really well-made and the label is simple. More information on the product can be found on the brand’s website.
Texture:
Being a butter in its natural state, it has a solid texture and a delicious cocoa scent. It can be applied by rubbing the fingers on it and it becomes easier to apply in contact with the body heat or it can be heated on a steam bath so that it becomes liquid. To be honest, it kind of is a pain in the ass to use it.
Ingredients:
There are no ingredients because it contains only 100% natural cocoa butter.
Price and accessibility:
This particular cocoa butter is available on the Oleya website as far as I can tell and the price is decent. I got it for about 5.5 euros.
My overall opinion:
I think I should list the things that cocoa butter is supposed to be good for before I tell you how I used it and about my experience with it. So, cocoa butter is good for dry skin, for the lips, to reduce acne scars, it has anti-aging properties, it calms burns, accelerates tanning, it acts as a natural SPF (but an SPF cream should still be applied), helps with nail growth, helps with cracked heels, stimulates hair growth, it has anti-dandruff properties and gives volume to the hair.
Pfuuu, that was a lot, right? So far, I used it as a lip balm in the evening (great with that and also yummy) and as a hair mask applied on the scalp and on the hair for about an hour. I must say, the hair does look shiny and has more volume when I use it, so I think it works.
On the body I didn’t use it just because I don’t have the patience so scrap so much of it and to melt it down until I’m able to apply it. That’s actually my main gripe with natural body butters. They are good, but you have to take the time to be able to use them because they can be quite hard, even if they’re stored at room temperature.
But that doesn’t mean that this cocoa butter was a fail for me, just that it’s hard to use . I still want to incorporate more natural products in my skin care routine, especially since I’m so happy with the products that I have used so far and my skin does look great, so I want to do the same for my body and my hair.
