Mayie Rosehip Oil review

I’m not an oil girl myself, but since I’ve read that one of my beauty icons, Duchess Kate uses rosehip oil in her skin care routine, I wanted to try it out. Yes, sometimes I can be manipulated into using certain products if some celebs that I like use them. So, since I’m a fan of Mayie products and I saw that they make their own cold pressed rosehip oil, I just had to try it for myself.

Packaging:

The oil comes in a dark glass bottle with a dropper and it contains 30 ml. I think the glass is meant to protect the oil from sunlight and I store it in a cabinet as well. The packaging is very simple and the information about the product can be found on the brand’s website. The label only has some of the basic information.

Texture:

The oil is yellow and it has a strong rosehip scent. I can’t say that I’m a fan of the scent, but it’s only natural so I can’t mind it.

Ingredients:

Just cold pressed rosehip oil and nothing else. Rosehip oil is rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, beta-carotene, vitamin E and vitamin D.

Price and accessibility:

Mayie products are available through the brand’s online shop and some of the products can be found at Douglas. I ordered mine from their online shop for about 10 euros, which is a very good price point for an all natural oil.

My overall opinion:

I use it only at night, because I think that an oil would be too much for my combination skin. I just apply three drops in the palm of my hand and I spread it evenly all over the face, including around the eyes. The face does feel a little bit oily afterwards, but I don’t use any other face cream and in the evening the skin looks soft and supple and brighter. Rosehip oil also has anti-aging properties, so that’s why I like it.

I will continue to use it until I finish the bottle, but I think I prefer serums and creams more just because they absorb completely into the skin. I want to try their retinol because they have created some natural retinols in two concentrations. So, yes, I think rosehip oil is good for a skin care routine, but it’s more suitable for dry skin than for oily or combination skin.
