La Saponaria face serums review

La Saponaria is a small cosmetics company that was founded in the early 2000’s in Italy. They started with handmade soaps and then they extended gradually their portfolio of natural cosmetics. Now, I saw some of their products at the Dr Max pharmacy and I picked up two face serums because they were on sale. In fact, most of the products available are face serums, but the company does make a wide range of cosmetics. And since I do love a good face serum, here we are.

La Saponaria Niacinamide + Zinc face serum

Packaging:

The face serum comes in a recycled plastic bottle with a dropper and it contains 30 ml. I would like a glass container more, but I guess they wanted to maintain the price of the products more affordable.

Texture:

It has the consistency of an oily serum and it does feel a little bit sticky on the skin. It reminds me of the Gerovital face serums from the Must Have line.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Niacinamide, Propanediol, Zinc Gluconate, Glycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Pentylene Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Benzyl Alcohol.

Price and accessibility:

La Saponaria products are available in Romania mostly in pharmacies. I got this face serum at the price of around 5 euros on sale, but usually it costs around 9 euros.

My overall opinion:

I’ve been using this face serum in the morning before I apply my regular face cream for more than a week now, but I must say…I don’t see any important effects on the skin.

La Saponaria Ecofermented Activator face serum

Packaging:

Just like the niacinamide serum, this one also comes in a recycled plastic bottle with a dropper and it contains 30 ml.

Texture:

This face serum has the same consistency as the previous one, as it’s thick and sticky. Also, I forgot to mention that both face serums are not scented.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Pichia Ferment Lysate Filtrate, Alteromonas Ferment Extract, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba Gum, Glycerin, Benzyl Alcohol, Phenethyl Alcohol, Sodium Dehydroacetate

The main ingredient is the Marine Phytocomplex based on fermented microalgae which has anti-aging properties and stimulates the natural synthesis of elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid.

Price and accessibility:

Like I said before, La Saponaria products are available mostly in pharmacies. I got this face serum of around 5.5 euros on sale, while it’s usually sold for around 10 euros.

My overall opinion:

I’m sorry to say that in the case of this face serum I also didn’t notice any important effects. I don’t mean that the skin should be transformed over night, but it also doesn’t fell softer, smoother, brighter or anything. I used this face serum in the evenings.

So, while La Saponaria does sound like a cool brand, with its family-owned business beginnings and with its philosophy of creating natural cosmetics for all skin types and for all ages, I don’t think that I want to purchase any of their products again. They’re just not my cup of tea.
