BioBalance is a Turkish cosmetics brand made by Alpaya. Alpaya was founded at the beginning of the 1990s by pharmacist Kenan Alpay, who began manufacturing herbal remedies, using plants from Anatolia. The production was moved during the early 2000s to Istanbul, where they started to produce cosmetics. I came across this brand on an online shop through some samples, and I bought a few of the products because I was curious about them and because I’m always eager to try new skin care products, especially if they don’t cost an arm and a leg. Now, let’s start with the first serum.

Packaging:

The serum comes in a glass bottle and it has a dropper. Otherwise, the packaging is simple, but it’s effective, considering how fancy the serum looks with all those gold flakes in it. It contains 30 ml.

Texture:

The serum has a thin consistency and it’s enough to use only a few drops. The gold flakes melt when applied on to the skin. I use it both in the morning and in the evening and it absorbs fast into the skin.

I appreciate the fact that there is actual gold on the ingredients list. Not because I think that gold does anything for the skin, but at least it’s not a lie regarding the name of the serum. Also, I just feel bougie because I know I’m using skin care with gold in it. I’m a sucker for things like that, what can I say?

Other than that, the serum is perfume free, alcohol free, oil free, preservative free, silicone free, gluten free and vegan. The key ingredients are Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, which improves skin elasticity and the immortelle extract, which acts as an antioxidant.

Price and accessibility:

BioBalance products are available in DM stores, in certain pharmacies and in several online shops. I bought it from an online shop for about 12 euros. It’s not that cheap, but it’s also not expensive for a face serum and since I use it only in the under eye area, it will last me for quite some time.

My overall opinion:

This face serum is suitable for anti-aging and for brightening the skin. It’s recommended to apply it on the fine lines and wrinkles such as around the eyes, on the forehead and around the lips. I use it in the eye area, like I said, and I did notice that after two weeks, there is some improvement with the fine lines. it’s not better than other anti-aging serums, but I think I will continue to use it because of those glittery gold flakes. It works and I like how it looks on my bathroom shelf. Am I vain because of that? Well, every woman needs a little bit of pampering, right?
