Joop! Femme EDT review

My husband received a couple of years a go a perfume as a gift for his birthday. It was Homme by Joop! and he really liked it. I do too because it’s different from all the citrus and wood notes that most men’s fragrances seems to contain. It may seem a little bit feminine because it’s on the sweet side and because of the pink color, but we both like it. So, I wanted to get the pair, the feminine scent called Femme and I ordered it last week.

Packaging:

The packaging is very simple, a clear glass bottle in a blue cardboard box. Nothing special about it, I think they went for the modern minimalist design (even if it was launched in 1987). I got the big bottle that contains 100 ml.

Texture:

The perfume has a golden color, which is interesting because I think the pink color would have been more suitable for a women’s perfume.

Top notes: aldehydes, coriander, bergamot, lemon and fruity notes.

Middle notes: jasmine, orange blossom, rose and lily-of-the-valley

Base notes: sandalwood, civet, vanilla, amber, tonka bean, musk, patchouli, oakmoss and cedar.

Price and accessibility:

Although the Homme perfume is available in several stores and online shops, I fond the Femme perfume only in the Notino online store. So I don’t know, maybe it’s discontinued or I don’t know why it’s a little bit hard to find. The big bottle was around 24 euros, which is an affordable amount considering the quantity. Joop! is kind of like a drugstore brand now since it’s own by Coty, so I’m not surprised.

My overall opinion:

I hate to say it, but like my husband’s perfume better and I would wear it because I think it’s a unisex scent. I don’t just because we don’t want to smell the same. The Femme perfume does have that vintage perfume scent. It feels a little bit heavy and synthetic and it’s definitely a perfume for mature women. The only person that complimented m on it was my mother and she’s a 67 years old lady, so I think with that I said it all.

I don’t think there’s something wrong with and it doesn’t smell bad, but it does feel outdated and as much as I liked the fact that it does feel like a unique scent in this day and age, it’s just not something that I would prefer.
