Philip Kingsley products are hit and miss for me, because there are some that I liked and some that I didn’t, so I was curious to see how this volumizing hair spray works.
Packaging:
I do have only a travel size that contains 60 ml, but the full size products has the same packaging, a plastic bottle with a sprayer that comes in two sizes: a 125 ml one and a 250 ml one. The white and orange packaging is consistent with the design used for all the brand’s products ranges as they color-coordinated depending on the type of hair they were created for.
Texture:
This spray although is a styling product, feels like water when you apply it on the hair, so it has a very light texture and a pleasant scent.
Ingredients:
Aqua/Water/Eau, VP/VA Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, PEG-75 Lanolin, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine Lactate, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Polyamide-2, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Parfum (Fragrance), Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Hydroxycitronellal, Hexyl Cinnamal, Citronellol, Linalool.
The key ingredients are surface resins (to add volume and hold), hydrolyzed keratin (to smooth and protect the hair) and polyamide (used as UV protectors).
Price and accessibility:
Philip Kingsley products are available in several online shops that ship to Romania. On the brand’s website, the 125 ml bottle is sold for 20 UK pounds and the 250 ml bottle for 29 UK pounds. Considering that this is a styling product and you only need a small quantity, I don’t think that it’s too expensive for a volumizing hair spray.
My overall opinion:
This is probably my favorite Philip Kingsley product that I have tried so far. I only apply it on the roots of my hair right before I use a the hair dryer and the effect really is beautiful. It adds texture and volume to my fine hair and it looks like I have more hair, if that makes sense. Normally I use a styling mousse from Wella which works just as well, but that ones feels sticky and you have to work it into the hair. With the hair spray it’s much easier because it doesn’t feel sticky at all and I just spray it one and dry my hair quickly.
So, because it’s easier to use, I would prefer the volumizing hair spray from Philip Kingsley, but if I consider the price, I can get 4 bottles of styling mousse for the same price. Knowing me, I will probably stick with my usual styling product, but I do like the Philip Kingsley hair spray and I would recommend it.
