Antipodes Flora Probiotic Skin-rescue Hyaluronic Mask review

One of the things that I like about beauty boxes is that I get to try all kinds of products that I wouldn’t think of buying on my own. Or that I get some products for a lot cheaper than I did if I were to purchase them on my own. This is the case with this face mask.

Antipodes is a beauty brand from New Zealand (shout out to you all, it’s the first product that I get to use made in this country). The company was founded by Elizabeth Barbalich, who has a background in biology and medicine. So, the brand combines technological innovations with natural ingredients (most of them from New Zealand) and sustainable packaging (no plastic). Needless to say, the brand is cruelty free and vegan (which all brands should be by now).

Packaging:

The face mask comes in an aluminium tube and it contains 75 ml (a very good amount for a face mask because most of them contain only 50 ml). The predominant color is blue, which is suitable considering the key ingredients.

Texture:

The face mask doesn’t look special, it’s just like a thicker cream and it’s the kind of mask that you leave on for 15 minutes and then you rinse it off. It also has a subtle scent.

Ingredients:

Aqua (water), glycerin, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, sodium acrylates copolymer & lecithin, dehydroacetic acid, benzyl alcohol, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, bisabolol, glyceryl caprylate, sodium hyaluronate, Lactobacillus ferment, mannitol, sodium citrate, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf extract, Phormium tenax (harakeke) flax extract, Cyathea medullaris (mamaku) black fern extract, mica, titanium dioxide, tin dioxide, manganese violet, Hibiscus sabdariffa (hibiscus) flower extract, Juniperus communis (Juniper) Berry Oil, Fragrances of Lavender & Rose: benzyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, coumarin, eugenol, farnesol, geraniol, limonene, linalool

The key ingredients are kalibiome probiotics (reduce redness and strengthen the skin barrier), plant hyaluronic acid and Harakeke flax (hydrates, balances and soothes the skin). There are also other nice ingredients in there such as jojoba seed oil, aloe vera leaf extract, black fern extract, hibiscus flower extract and juniper berry oil.

Price and accessibility:

Antipodes products are available in Romania in Douglas and Sephora stores and in a few online shops. At Douglas, for example, this face mask is sold for about 37 euros. Now, while I do appreciate the formula and the idea behind the brand, 37 euros is a lot for a face mask.

My overall opinion:

I certainly enjoyed using the face mask and I noticed that it has a nice effect on the skin because it makes it plump and smooth and it does reduce redness. However, this is out of my price range. I paid only 20 euros for the beauty box that contained this face mask among other 10 products, so it was a steal. But, just for a face mask, no I wouldn’t pay as much. However, if expensive skin care is not a problem for you, I would definitely recommend this face mask and the Antipodes brand in general.
