Maybelline is one of those makeup brands that is best known for their mascaras. After all they released many mascaras over the years that have become iconic makeup staples. When I looked up reviews on new mascaras to try, this new Lash Sensational Firework mascara was on the top the list. Of course, I also couldn’t resist the pink tube, so I grabbed one when I did some shopping at my local DM store.

Packaging:

This mascara comes in a thick pink plastic tube and it contains 10 ml. The wand is also on the thick side, which is not necessarily something that I like, because I prefer thinner wands, as it’s easier to apply the mascara on those inner and outer corners.

Texture:

The packaging may be thick, but the formula of this mascara is light, so it doesn’t make the lashes look clumpy. I personally don’t like the spider lashes look, I just like to have something that coats the lashes individually and helps create volume and length. In this regard, it’s a mascara how I like it.

This mascara is enriched with vitamin B which I don’t know what it’s supposed to do (maybe to help with their appearance?),

Price and accessibility:

Maybelline products are available in DM and Douglas stores as well as in several online shops. Since I got mine from DM, I’ll go with the price they have it for on sale, about 12 euros. It’s not a cheap mascara but it’s also not expensive. I would say it’s a normal price for a drugstore mascara nowadays (for brands like Maybelline and L’Oreal because there are cheaper alternatives out there).

My overall opinion:

I was already 90% sure that this mascara would be good because Maybelline rarely disappoints in this matter. I was right. Did I use mascaras that were better than this? Yes, but they were also more expensive. It does a better job than some cheaper drugstore mascaras because you only need one coat to obtain volume and length and it looks great on the lashes. In the same price range, I would have to say that I prefer the L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara because it just makes the lashes pop more, but that one is a bit more expensive and you only get 6.4 ml, which is significantly less product. I don’t regret buying it, but I do have to say that I don’t see the point of bringing out so many products that are basically all the same. Especially with mascaras, they can’t be that different. I would recommend it if you want a mascara that is no muss no fuss and it doesn’t budge (even if it’s not waterproof), but I wouldn’t say that this has become one of my favorites.
