After we talked about my experience with the Khadi natural hair color, I also want to say a few words about this Khadi hair oil that I’ve been using. I got this hair oil when I ordered the hair color because I read the instructions for the hair color and it said that this oil is supposed to help fixating the color. Also, it’s supposed to be a goor hair and scalp treatment.
Packaging:
The hair oil comes in a nice glass bottle with a pump, so it’s easy to pour just as much as you need in the palm of your hand. The bottle contains 50 ml, which doesn’t seem like much, but being a hair oil it means that you don’t need much product. Also, I only use it once a week so it will last me for quite some time.
Texture:
The oil has a red color and a rather strong scent, but it’s not from the perfume, it’s because that’s how the oil smells.
Ingredients:
Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil*, Emblica Officinalis Fruit Extract*, Eclipta Alba Leaf Extract , Bacopa Monniera Leaf Extract , Cyperus Rotundus Leaf Extract , Symplocos Racemosa Bark Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract*, Azadirachta Indica Leaf Extract, Sesamum Indicum Oil*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil*, Lawsonia Inermis Leave Extract, Cinnamomum Camphora Extract, Onosma Hispidum Root Extract, Tocopherol, Linalool**, Limonene**
So, as you can see, this doesn’t contain only amla oil, but it’s rather a mix of different oils. The key ingredients are plants from India such as bhringaraj, brahmi (good to prevent hair loss and to strenghten the hair), nagarmotha (anti-dandruff), lodhra, tulsi, neem (anti-bacterial properties), vitamin E, ratanjyot (for a healthy scalp), sun flower oil, seasame seed oil and almond oil (hydrating and prevent hair breakage).
Price and accessibility:
Khadi products are available mostly online as far as I can tell. I got this hair oil from one of my favorite natural beauty online shops for about 10 euros. Considering that this is a hair treatment and it can last for multiple uses, I think it’s a good price.
My overall opinion:
The hair oil can be used as a leave-in treatment (but in small quantities) or as a hair treatment for as much as you like. I try to leave it on for at least 30 – 60 minutes before I wash my hair. I usually apply it only once a week (because I don’t have the time each night to wait with oil in my hair). Also, it’s suitable for all hair types and I can confirm that it doesn’t make my oily hair look greasier. In fact, together with the henna, I think it makes my hair look healthy and shiny. Several people have complimented me on my hair since I started to use this hair care regime, so there has to be something to it. Also, I noticed that there is considerably less hair loss when I wash or brush my hair. This hair oil is also supposed to prevent the appearance of grey hairs, so I’m really curious about that, as you can imagine. I dread having grey hair, to be honest.
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this hair oil and now I’m surprised at myself that I’m using a hair oil since I was always under the impression that oils will make my hair look worse. But no, I have volume and shine and the hair just looks like I came from the salon and often I don’t even take the time use a blow drier.
