I feel like my blog is turning slowly into a hair care one, but trust me, it’s not intentional. I just got many hair care products in beauty boxes lately. I got the travel sized shampoo and hair mask in the most recent beauty box from Notino, so, since I was so happy with the solid shampoo from Alfaparf, I was interested to see how these products are (even though they are for dry hair to be honest).
Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Nutritive Low Shampoo
Packaging:
I have the travel-sized shampoo, so it comes in a tube that contains 75 ml, but the regular shampoo comes in bottles that contain 250 ml and 1000 ml (that one is mostly for salon use, I’m sure). The tube and the bottles are pink, because each line has a different color in terms of design.
Texture:
The shampoo has a normal consistency, more on the liquid side, it’s white and it is scented, but I like scented hair products, so I don’t mind it.
Ingredients:
AQUA (WATER), SODIUM C14-16 OLEFIN SULFONATE, DISODIUM LAURETH SULFOSUCCINATE, COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), PEG-7 GLYCERYL COCOATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, GLYCOL DISTEARATE, POLYQUATERNIUM-10, SODIUM COCOAMPHOACETATE, TRIDECETH-2 CARBOXAMIDE MEA, SODIUM BENZOATE, LAURETH-4, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, POLYQUATERNIUM-7, LAURETH-2, PEG/PPG-120/10 TRIMETHYLOLPROPANE TRIOLEATE, DISODIUM EDTA, LACTIC ACID, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, CARNOSINE, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, FRUCTOSE, GLUCOSE, DEXTRIN, SUCROSE, UREA, LINUM USITATISSIMUM (Flaxseed) SEED EXTRACT, CAESALPINIA SPINOSA GUM, POTASSIUM SORBATE, BIOSACCHARIDE GUM-4, ALANINE, ASPARTIC ACID, GLUTAMIC ACID, HEXYL NICOTINATE
As far as the formula goes, on the brand’s website it says that it contains the Urban Defence Pro Technology (it protects the hair from pollution factors), the Shine Fix Complex (for shiny hair) and the Color Fix Complex (it protects hair color from fading). It doesn’t contain any sulphates.
Price and accessibility:
Alfaparf Milano products are available in various online shops and in certain pharmacies. Since I got my shampoo from Notino, I’ll go with the price listed on that website which is about 12 euros for the 250 ml. It’s not crazy expensive, but it’s definitely the price for a professional hair product. I’ve seen hair products that are way more expensive, so I think this is a decent price for a good quality shampoo.
My overall opinion:
Even though this shampoo is not for my hair type, because I do have oily hair, I decided to give it a try and now I’ve been suing it 3 or 4 times (alternating with the solid shampoo) and I have to say that I love it because it is a true low shampoo, meaning that it doesn’t weigh down the hair, it doesn’t make it look too oily and it works even for oily hair, especially now that the hair tends to be drier from the sun. I did notice the nice shine it gives to the hair and overall I like how my hair looks when I use it.
Alfaparf Milano Semi di Lino Nutritive Mask
Packaging:
I have only a travel-sized mask so it come in a tube that contains 50 ml, but the regular-sized mask comes in a jar that contains 200 ml and also in a large jar that contains 500 ml. I prefer jars, but beggars can’t be choosers, right? The tube and the jar are both pink, because this is the color of the Nutritive line from Alfaparf Milano.
Texture:
It is a hair mask, but it’s not that thick. I would say it looks more like a conditioner. It has the same scent as the shampoo from the line, so they complement eachother.
Ingredients:
AQUA (WATER), CETEARYL ALCOHOL, BEHENTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, STEARAMIDOPROPYL DIMETHYLAMINE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), AMODIMETHICONE, BEHENTRIMONIUM METHOSULFATE, LACTIC ACID, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, DIMETHICONE PEG-8 MEADOWFOAMATE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, DISODIUM EDTA, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, CETRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, TRIDECETH-10, GLYCERIN, FRUCTOSE, GLUCOSE, CARNOSINE, DEXTRIN, SUCROSE, UREA, BIOSACCHARIDE GUM-4, LINUM USITATISSIMUM (Flaxseed) SEED EXTRACT, CAESALPINIA SPINOSA GUM, ALANINE, ASPARTIC ACID, GLUTAMIC ACID, HEXYL NICOTINATE, POTASSIUM SORBATE, SODIUM BENZOATE
Just like the shampoo, it promises to protect the hair from pollution factors, it provides shine and it protects the hair color from fading.
Price and accessibility:
Again, since I got the hair mask from Notino, I will go with their price, which is about 15 euros for the 200 ml mask. It may seem like much, but you only need a small amount for each use (I apply it only starting from the mid-length of my hair, so I think that is enough.
My overall opinion:
I also like the mask, just like the shampoo, because I use it to prevent dry ends and splitting hairs and so on and I think it does a good job with that. Plus, I have difficult hair because it’s oily at the roots, but the ends of my hair tend to become dry, so I do need to use hair masks or conditioners to maintain them healthy. I use this mask mostly as a conditioner to be honest because I hate to wash my hair then put on a mask an wait for 5 minutes. I don’t have time for that, especially because I wash my hair separately, not during the shower. But even if I don’t leave the product on for so long, I think it still does a good job.
Now, after having used 3 products from Alfaparf Milano (and I have something to test during my vacation as well) I can honestly say this is my favorite hair care brand so far and God knows I tried many over the years, mostly from beauty boxes. And yes, beauty boxes have helped me to discover this brand as well, but I will definitely continue to purchase Alfaparf Milano products because I can see that my hair looks great since I use them.
