essence Call Me Queen Mascara review

Almost whenever I go shopping for a new mascara at my local DM store I end up picking up an essence mascara because they keep bringing out new products and of course I’m intrigued. This one promised a a “dramatic false lash effect”, so of course, I had to get it.

Packaging:

The packaging is similar to those Lash Queen mascaras from essence, because the plastic tube has the same shape. It’s very colorful and cute and it contains 11.5 ml, which is a very good quantity for a mascara.

Texture:

One of the things that I like about essence mascaras is that they don’t have a thick formula for those clunky spider lash effect. I like my lashes to be well defined and voluminous, so I like mascaras that have a thin formula and are easy to apply even in the inner and outer quarters of the eyes. The wand also has an interesting shape, because it’s a little curbed at the tip, so it’s easier to get to those lashes that are shorter.

Ingredients:

AQUA (WATER), PARAFFIN, GLYCERYL STEARATE, SYNTHETIC BEESWAX, STEARIC ACID, ACACIA SENEGAL GUM, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PALMITIC ACID, POLYBUTENE, ORYZA SATIVA CERA (ORYZA SATIVA (RICE) BRAN WAX), VP/EICOSENE COPOLYMER, OZOKERITE, AMINOMETHYL PROPANOL, TROPOLONE, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, STEARYL STEARATE, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, DISODIUM PHOSPHATE, POLYSORBATE 60, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, CI 77499 (IRON OXIDES).

I love the fact that essence products are not only cruelty free but are also vegan. There are also some ingredients in here that are good for the lashes like butylene glycol, hydrogenated vegetable oil, parrafin, palmitic acid, bran wax, tropolone and stearyl stearate.

Price and accessibility:

essence products are available in DM stores and in several online shops. This mascara is sold for only about 4 euros, which is an excellent price for mascara nowadays. Also, it’s like the price of a good coffee, so it’s not a problem to get a new mascara quite often.

My overall opinion:

essence did it again and they have a hit on their hand with this mascara. It’s really nice, it provides volume and length to the lashes, it doesn’t smudge, it has a dark black pigment, I mean, what else could you ask for? Other brands should take notes from essence when it comes to good mascaras. Of course, not every mascara was that great, but most of them are really good and at such an affordable price, you can’t beat that. I love it and at the price of a mascara from other drugstore brands I can get 3 mascaras from essence, so it’s great. I highly recommend it!
