Yves Rocher Pure Algue Ultra-Fresh Cleansing Gel review

Every now and then, I come back to Yves Rocher products because I do like them and they often have all kinds of sales and promotions and so, I was running low on my cleanser, so I placed an order because there was some kind of promotion that I was interested in. I got this cleansing gel because it’s hydrating and gentle and I thought it was a good fit in my skin care routine.

Packaging:

The cleansing gel is available in two different sizes: a 125 ml size and a 390 ml size. I got the large size which comes in a plastic bottle with a pump. The smaller sizes comes in a plastic tube. The bottle and the label are blue, because it’s the color of this range. It’s part of the Pure Algue range, that is hydrating and suitable for normal and combination skin.

Texture:

This is not a thick gel, it’s a clear gel that is more on the liquid side. It does have a little bit of scent, but I don’t mind it, because it’s a fresh scent. It’s a good cleansing gel for the summer, but I see myself using it throughout the year.

Ingredients:

AQUA/WATER/EAU • GLYCERIN • DECYL GLUCOSIDE • XANTHAN GUM • CENTAUREA CYANUS FLOWER WATER • COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE • SODIUM BENZOATE • PARFUM/FRAGRANCE • CITRIC ACID • POTASSIUM SORBATE • FRUCTOOLIGOSACCHARIDES • HYDROXYPROPYL STARCH PHOSPHATE • INULIN • MARIS AQUA/SEA WATER/EAU DE MER • TETRASELMIS SUECICA EXTRACT |

This is a rather basic formula that is very gentle to the skin because it contains glycerin (a very good moisturizing ingredient), cornflower water (a soothing ingredient that is also found in their eye makeup remover that I love), inulin (a prebiotic ingredient that has antibacterial properties) and the star ingredient is the Tetraselmis algae extract that comes from sustainable cultures along the French coast. Overall, it’s a simple formula, but it does contain some very good ingredients for the skin.

Price and accessibility:

Yves Rocher products are available in the brand’s stores and in their online shop. This cleansing gel is sold for around 12 euros, which may seem like much at first, but such a large bottle lasts for many months, so it’s worth it.

My overall opinion:

I’m not a skincare expert, but I noticed that since I’m using gentle cleansers for my skin, I have far less acne problems that during the times where I would use all kinds of daily exfoliators and astringent toners and such. Basically those products made my acne worse and would make my skin feel dry. It’s not normal to feel the skin tight after washing your face. It doesn’t mean it’s squeaky-clean, it just means it’s stripped from its natural oils. Plus, skin dryness only accelerates the aging process.

This cleansing gel does feel gentle and soothing and it does a very good job at removing dirt and makeup from the skin because I spritz some thermal water afterwards and I remove it with a cotton pad and the pad is clean, so there are no residues left.

I recommend this cleansing gel because I think it would be suitable for any skin type and I will probably repurchase it again when I decide to place another oder on the Yves Rocher website.
