Sabio Hair Growth Solid Shampoo with Nettle, Amla and Shikakai review

When I used that Amla hair oil as a hair treatment during the time I colored my hair with henna, I did notice that my hair looked fuller and it was less prone to falling out during hair washes, so I decided to look into a shampoo that contains this ingredient. I was even more happy when I found a solid shampoo because it contains only natural ingredients and I think it’s better for the hair this way.

Sabio is a natural cosmetics brand from Romania that I saw in several online shops specialized in natural cosmetics, but it’s the first time that I actually use something from them. They have all kinds of skin care products, bath and body products, as well as hair care products. The founder is a woman named Aura that decided to turn her passion into a business in 2015. The name Sabio comes from the name of her two daughters, Sabina and Ioana.

There are liquid shampoos and conditioner in their range, but I opted for a solid shampoo because I liked the experience that I had with a product of this kind in the past.

Packaging:

Since it’s a handmade product, the packaging is very simple. The shampoo is available in solid bars like soaps that are wrapped in clear foil and that have a label glued on it with some basic information about what the product is and what it contains. The solid shampoo has 130 grams (+/- 10 grams because the bars are hand carved).

Texture:

To be honest, this solid shampoo doesn’t look appealing at all because it doesn’t have any coloring ingredients or fragrances. It looks like you would expect a herbal shampoo to look like and it also has a herbal scent. I can’t say that I’m a fan of it, but at least it doesn’t linger in the hair.

Ingredients:

aqua, sodium cocoate, sodium castorate, persea gratissima oil, urtica dioica leaf powder, acacia concinna fruit powder, emblica officinalis fruit powder

As you can see, the list of ingredients is very short and it contains only natural ingredients. Of course, the stars of the show are the natural ingredients present in the name of the shampoo: nettle leaf powder, amla fruit powder and shikaki fruit powder.

Shikaki is a nut that grows in central and south India and its fruit is often used for hair care because it acts like a conditioner, as it strengthens the hair, it makes it gives it texture and shine.

Price and accessibility:

Sabio products are available on the brand’s online shop but also in several other online shops. I got mine from the Dr. Max pharmacy online shop for around 8 euros. It’s not one of the most affordable shampoos, but it’s a natural, handmade product and it’s also not crazy expensive. So, I think it’s a fair price.

My overall opinion:

After using this shampoo 3 or 4 times by now, all I can say is that I like how it adds volume to the hair and how I can stretch my hair washing to 3 days instead of two. I did notice that there is less fall out during hair washing and overall I’m happy with the product, although I would have liked to see more shine. But, as a shampoo for oily and fine hair like mine, I think that this is a very good option, especially if you’re looking for natural products that don’t contain silicone, SLS or other types of synthetic ingredients that are not exactly good for the hair. Will I use only this shampoo? Probably not, because I’m never completely happy with my hair, but I do like it and I would recommend it.

Later edit: it took me a month, but I had to give up using this solid shampoo because it makes my already oily hear look even greasier. After just one day, the hair looks oily and flat and while I know I have to wash my hair every other day, I don’t want to have to do it each day. So, for oily hair I don’t think that this shampoo is good.
