I noticed a trend in the beauty community that everyone is turning back to drugstore shampoos after they were criticized for so long. I must say that after trying all kinds of shampoos, either professional ones, natural ones, expensive ones and even more expensive ones, I’m tired. I didn’t find a holy grail product and while I did like some of the expensive shampoos, I don’t think they’re worth that much money. Therefore, I got this shampoo that’s been on the market for quite some time and my mother swears by it, so I decided to also give it a try again.
Packaging:
The shampoo comes in a clear plastic bottle because it’s a clarifying shampoo and they probably try to make that even more obvious through the packaging. I grabbed the big 400 ml bottle because I found it at a good price in one of our local supermarkets.
Texture:
The shampoo does have a scent, but I didn’t mind it because I don’t think that perfume is something bad, especially not in shampoos. I like my hair to smell nice. It has a thick gel consistency, so you don’t need much, even if you have thick and / or long hair.
Ingredients:
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Parfum, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Cocamide MEA, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Salicylate, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Panthenol, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Histidine
I know, at first glance the ingredients list doesn’t look good because everything that we’ve been told is bad for the hair can be found in this formula. But to be honest, I really don’t care anymore.
Price and accessibility:
Pantene products can be found all over the place, from supermarkets to beauty stores and in all kinds of online shops. The price differs considerably from one to another, but I got the big bottle of shampoo for only about 4 euros because this local supermarkets chain usually has very good prices for personal hygiene products and for cleaning products. But, even if it’s more expensive (like 6 euros or something), I still think it’s a very good price and it’s worth it.
My overall opinion:
Does this shampoo help me to add another day before I have to wash my hair? No, I still do that every other day. An I know it’s a pain, but, on the other hand, I think that if we wash our bodies daily why would I want to wait for up to a week to wash my hair. Sometimes there’s smoke or there are some kind of unpleasant smells that can be found around a person and they all go straight into the hair. So, even if I could, I wouldn’t skip hair washing for more than three days.
So, even if I have to wash may hair every other day because it does become oily, I’m fine with it. It’s a cheap shampoo, it makes my hair smooth and silky, it doesn’t cause any scalp itching or dandruff or other problems and it doesn’t weight it down (because my hair is very fine). It’s a shampoo that’s good enough and I’m done with trying all kinds of expensive products that basically have the same effects as drugstore shampoos.
